AEW Fight Forever is a breath of fresh air for wrestling fans looking for an out-of-the-box fighting experience. The game features the usual campaign mode, as well as AEW's unique match stipulations, like the Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch and Stadium Stampede. It also has several interactive weapons that players could use to attack their opponents, including a skateboard they could ride going to the ring.

Just like any wrestling game, AEW Fight Forever gives players an immersive opportunity to experience these matches for themselves, even winning championship titles along the way, while playing their favorite AEW stars or custom avatars. While some have criticized its design for not looking as realistic as the WWE 2K series, AEW's product still managed to capture avid gamers' attention for its fun and authentic gameplay -- for instance, AEW Fight Forever's Momentum system helps players perform signature moves. AEW Fight Forever is still a very new game at this point in time, so there's still room for updates to make the experience better down the line.

AEW Fight Forever Should Have a Challenging Gauntlet Mode

Contrary to AEW Fight Forever's name, wrestling matches generally have a time limit. Even promotions like New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) would set a one-hour cap on its matches. But the phrase "fight forever" is a popular chant among fans who want a match, usually the main event, to last longer because of how much they enjoy it. It's only appropriate for AEW to adopt it since it has world-class headliners, such as Kenny Omega, "Hangman" Adam Page, and even the controversial CM Punk, among many others.

That being said though, AEW Fight Forever has a unique opportunity to create a game mode where matches can last as long as players wanted. It could be a gauntlet-type mode that lets players see how many wrestlers they could pin or submit before losing. This could become a fun challenge wherein players could try beating their own records while using different AEW wrestlers and techniques. More importantly, it would become the first big wrestling game title with this game mode.

Plus, with AEW Fight Forever having a multiplayer mode, the potential gauntlet game mode could also allow players to see how they stack up compared to their friends and other people who play the game. It would create healthy competition outside of doing regular matches, and taking the role of general manager in the story campaign.

On a more practical level, playing an endless match could also allow AEW Fight Forever fans to practice and get used to the move sets, especially how to pull off finisher moves at the perfect time. Those who have experience playing wrestling games like WWE 2K might think they won't need this, but it would still help to have a mode where they could possibly spam certain moves before pinning or making their opponents tap out. This could also be a big help to wrestling game newbies.

Apart from potentially having bragging rights, AEW Fight Forever might need to add rewards to a gauntlet match. It's only fair considering the competitive nature of this hypothetical game mode. Rewards could be in the form of battle pass EXP, cosmetics, or special trophies to recognize players' efforts. This would further encourage and incentivize players to try out the gauntlet mode, alone or with friends.

A "fight forever" mode may not be in the cards for now, but there's still time for AEW Fight Forever to consider it for a future update. For now, players can challenge themselves with the 30-man Stadium Stampede, or Fight Forever's version of a battle royale mini-game. If there's one thing that's clear about AEW Fight Forever, it's that players are in for exciting wrestling challenges.

AEW Fight Forever is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
