Baldur's Gate 3: How To Reach The Wyrmway (Ansur's Lair)

There are many ways you can follow in Baldur's Gate 3 to reach The Wyrmway.

Updated on February 27, 2024, by Nahda Nabiilah: Getting Yurgir to be tricked by Tavs can be tricky, especially when Persuasion is involved. As two of the necessary dialogues need a 21-dice roll to get through, Tavs should go with a character with high intelligence and charisma in Bladur's Gate 3. By outsmarting Yurgir, Tavs who chose to aid Astarion before entering the Gauntlet of Shar, can impress the High Elf Rogue and gain his approval. Consequently, Raphael will fulfill his agreement by helping Astarion to understand the meaning behind Cazador's scars.

Baldur's Gate 3: Make Yurgir Kill Himself

The first step toward making Yurgir kill himself is to make sure that a suitable party member is selected to initiate the dialogue. More specifically, players should go with a character that has high Insight and is not a Warlock. Additionally, it is wise to pick a party member with a decent Charisma, as there are several fairly difficult Charisma checks on the way to completing the task at hand, and BG3's Gale is a perfectly reasonable option.

Players that are trying to obtain the True Love's Caress and True Love's Embrace rings in Baldur's Gate 3 can find their locations detailed here.

After initiating the dialogue using a suitable character, Baldur's Gate 3 players should focus the conversation around Raphael to ultimately learn that Yurgir has a contract with him. Fans should then ask Yurgir to show them the contract, prompting the demon to sing a song. While there are several ways to reach this outcome, here are dialogue selections that are guaranteed to produce it:

  • Put that thing down. I'm here to talk.
  • Wait - you know Raphael?
  • He wants you dead.
  • Let's share our experiences about Raphael. Perhaps we can help each other.
  • Show me this contract. Perhaps there's something you missed.

As Yurgir's song comes to a close, an Insight check will occur, and it needs to be a success.

Indeed, CRPG fans will not have the option to make Yurgir kill himself if the check fails, and players that find themselves in that situation may want to reload and try again.

If the player succeeds the Insight check, they will need to work through another series of dialogue options, and the selections that will lead to Yurgir's death have been listed below. Notably, there are three Charisma checks in the section, two of which have a Difficulty Class of 21, and players can simply reload if they fail any of them:

  • Your contract is a song?
  • [PERSUASION] The lyrics are a trick. You've always had an audience - your followers. Get rid of them.
  • [PERSUASION] You're not finished yet - the displacer can hear you, can't she? Kill her.
  • [PERSUASION] Exactly. Kill yourself, complete the contract, and you'll be reborn in Avernus. Free.

Immediately following Yurgir's death, players will receive an indication that they have completed the Kill Raphael's Old Enemy quest. Fans will also be able to pick up the nearby Umbral Gem, which they will use to complete the Gauntlet of Shar in Baldur's Gate 3.
