Xbox Game Pass is firmly established as gaming's definitive subscription service, a reputation built upon years of goodwill. Each month, Microsoft adds a few games to the service, ensuring subscribers always have something new to check out. While slightly overshadowed by its console counterpart, PC Game Pass is a great option for people who prefer to play on a computer rather than an Xbox.
Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass offer many of the same games, which reflects Microsoft's desire to cater to its whole customer base rather than just those who own consoles. That said, there are differences between the two, including some great titles that are only on the PC iteration. What are the best PC Game Pass games?
Updated February 10, 2025 by Mark Sammut: PC Game Pass had a pretty good few weeks. Sniper Elite: Resistance, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, Eternal Strands, Diablo, and Citizen Sleeper 2 debuted within proximity, and they all have something to offer. While feeling like more of an expansive, Resistance should still hit the mark with die-hard fans of the franchise. Eternal Strands is an impressive action-adventure game with combat that takes some inspiration from Shadow of the Colossus. Ninja Gaiden 2 Black and Citizen Sleeper 2 deserve to be highlighted individually.
The good times are not going to slow down either, as Avowed will be debuting on PC Game Pass in February 2025. Atomfall, South of Midnight, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and Doom: The Dark Ages are also confirmed for the next few months. Exciting times.
Games are not ranked solely by their quality; for example, newer PC Game Pass games will be included at the top for added exposure.
1 Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector
A Great Sequel To A Great Game

Both Citizen Sleeper titles are on PC Game Pass, and they are fantastic character-driven RPGs that are quite unlike most other options in the genre. While the second entry is receiving the spotlight, the first game should not be ignored. Newcomers can just start with that one before moving to the sequel, especially since a single-run playthrough of both projects will not take all that long to complete.

Citizen Sleeper 2: 7 Things The Sequel Improves From The First Game
Every sequel makes changes to the original formula, and in the case of Citizen Sleeper 2, these changes made major improvements to its predecessor.
This series translates tabletop gaming, albeit with a primary focus being on dialogue and outcomes determined by dice rolls. Although there are a few stats to play around with, they are relatively limited in their upgrade options, so players cannot brute-force their way through most situations. Rather than focusing on things like combat, Citizen Sleeper 2 prioritizes NPC interactions, crew management, resource management, and dealing with unexpected results. Story-wise, the game follows a Sleeper, which is an android with memories of a human. The protagonist is on the run from their corp overlord, and they are trying to stay a step ahead while making a living in the Starward Belt.
2 Ninja Gaiden 2 Black
A Graphical Upgrade Of A Fantastic Game

Well, this drop was a pleasant surprise. Along with announcing Ninja Gaiden 4 by PlatinumGames, Koei Tecmo randomly released Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, with the remake debuting directly on Xbox Game Pass (and PC Game Pass, by extension). The Master Collection's Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is still available as well, so the 2025 release did not come at the expense of that project. Ninja Gaiden 2 Black appears to be somewhat based on the Sigma 2 version rather than the original, although it is not a 1-to-1 recreation. Ultimately, this title offers another way to experience one of the greatest (and hardest) action games of all time.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Black - 10 Beginner Tips
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black isn’t here to hold your hand. These beginner tips will help you survive its brutal bosses and unforgiving combat!
What is new here? Well, honestly, not that much beyond the Unreal Engine 5 graphics. An upgrade in visuals might not seem that important, but this change gives the whole experience a fresh look and vibe. Ninja Gaiden 2's gameplay was and still is great, so there was not much that could have been done to improve upon near-perfection; consequently, a visual upgrade was the most obvious route to take, and it is impressive. Players who never played the original can just jump into this iteration, even if they are completely new to Ninja Gaiden in general.
