Yuri And Saturn Embark On A New Journey Together

Satan Gives Up The Building

Previously, we saw that when Satan returned to Section 13, he made the whole building his castle and took everyone as hostages. After meeting with Yuri, he is willing to give up the building as he wants to spend the little time he has with the woman he loves. This episode does a great job of exploring the softer and vulnerable side of Satan.

As Satan breaks the news of him leaving the building to his children, Lucifer complains and asks him why he is abandoning the body that he got. To which Satan replies that he has found something much more important than a body. In the next scene, we see Satan and Yuri living together. During this time, Satan becomes extra attached to Yuri and asks her to stay with her until he dies. The little moments between Yuri and Satan are animated so beautifully that despite how cruel Satan is, one can't help but love both of them together.

After Yuri gets Satan some clothes and a nice haircut, they go on their way to leave the building. However, while Yuri was visiting her friend Jenny, an exorcist at Section 13 overheard their conversation and informed the authorities. As soon as Yuri and Satan step out, they are surrounded by several members of the True Order. Among those people, Yuri spots Shiro and asks everyone, including him, to let them go.

However, suddenly, she feels very nauseated and weak. Seeing it as a chance, the exorcists start attacking Satan. However, he is far too powerful and is able to evaporate the bullets that come his way. Seeing the attack towards him, Satan gets extremely angry and just as he is about to claim that he will kill everyone, his body collapses, probably because it is unable to endure such great power. Yuri is taken away by Shiro, and Satan is arrested.

Yuri Gets Pregnant

In the next scene, we see Mephisto telling the Leaders of the Order that the hostages are rescued and the decayed body of Satan was found in the asylum, which fails to convince them. Some of them still seem skeptical of the fact and even refuse to believe Satan was actually there.

Mephisto then goes on to explain that he thinks the reason why Satan specifically targeted the Japanese branch is because of the second-class exorcist Yuri Egin. He also claims that Yuri is pregnant with Satan’s child, and there is a lot of proof, including the Cradle Barrier around her, which is manifested when a woman is pregnant with a demon child.

Later, we see Shiro visiting Yuri. Yuri asks about Satan, to which Shiro replies that he is alive, but officially, he has been claimed dead. He also tells her that his body has decayed considerably and has damaged his brain as well, making him unable to move. The True order is blaming Yuri, which makes her worry about her unborn child. Seeing this frustrates Shiro, and he asks her to worry about herself first because as soon as the Cradle Barrier disappears, she will be in danger.

Blue Exorcist: How Much Has Rin Changed Since Season 1?

Starting as an impulsive rebel, Rin's journey through Blue Exorcist has matured him into a more controlled and reliable protector.

Exorcising Rin

After that, Mephisto is seen discussing all the possibilities of exorcising the child. He also mentions the use of the Koma sword, also known as the Kurikara, which has a great affinity for flame as it held many flame demons in the past times. Shiro stops him abruptly and asks not to be included in this operation.

Shiro is then seen getting a weapon of some sort from a monk to kill the demon child. The doctors do an ultrasound of Yuri and find out that she is having twins, with the larger one consuming more power than the other. Yuri is extremely weakened, and the doctor says that she might not even survive to give birth to them. Seeing all this, Rin gets extremely heartbroken.

The day comes of the twins being born. It has been 18 hours since Yuri went into labor, but because of the Cradle Barrier, doctors can't even give her a single injection to help her. As the time draws closer, the exorcists of the True Order prepare themselves to exorcise the demon child. The Exorcism Music Ritual commences, and after a lot of pain, Yuri is finally able to give birth. Child M, who is actually Rin, is labeled as Satan's child.

It already shows a lot of aggression and starts attacking exorcists nearby. However, the other child is yet to be born, and Yuri is already weak. Nobody is able to stop the demon child from attacking exorcists. Seeing all the chaos Rin caused as a child makes him extremely upset. Mephisto then puts Rin in a room to calm him down. In these vulnerable moments, Rin is seen desperately missing his younger brother, Yukio.

Final Thoughts

The pacing of this episode, while a bit fast, is executed in a fairly better way, and the animation seems smooth, too. This episode also leaves some questions hanging in the air and makes us eagerly await what’s next.

The last scene, where Yuri gives birth to the twins, is incredibly painful to watch. Seeing how happy and full of life Yuri gets extremely weakened and is almost on the verge of dying is truly upsetting. The journey of the twins has only just begun, and with the events of this episode, it’s clear that the path ahead will be anything but easy.
