One of the main changes arriving with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the return of the classic Prestige system. Since 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Activision's shooter series has opted for a seasonal system to appeal to fans of live service games.
This time around, Treyarch has opted for the classic Prestige system with the developer looking to deliver a wealth of rewards for those looking to earn the coveted title of Prestige Master. Activision claims it will use new technology to detect and remove cheaters incredibly quickly from Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 matches.
Black Ops 6 Prestige Explained
As soon as the servers are switched on when Black Ops 6 launches, players can start climbing through all ten Prestige levels with no seasonal timer stopping the grind. For some players who have never experienced classic Prestige in Call of Duty, here's all the intel on how it works once Level 55 has been reached:
- Reset to Level 1
- All Level unlocks must be earned again
- All loadouts are reset
- Lifetime stats remain but the game will only show stats for the Prestige that is active
How Many Prestiges Are There?
In total, Black Ops 6 will feature a total of ten Prestige levels. Once Level 55 Prestige 10 has been reached, players have access to 1000 additional levels in addition to exclusive rewards for those dedicated to reaching the top rank.
Black Ops 6 Permanent Unlocks, Explained
As a reward for each Prestige, players receive a permanent unlock allowing them to obtain one available item between Level 1 and 55. Ten Prestiges in Black Ops 6 mean there are ten permanent unlock tokens up for grabs.
Players can pick from anything ranging from a weapon in the arsenal or a perk to use at all times. We recommend selecting a strong weapon for instant access to it once the loadout creation menus are unlocked.

What Is Prestige Master in Black Ops 6?
After working through ten Prestiges, players will unlock Prestige Master, 1,000 extra levels for players to keep working through throughout the cycle. It's not just a variety of Prestige icons and a four-figure level on offer, there are plenty of exclusive rewards to earn.
