Survival horror games are punishing enough without needing to rely on others to survive. Devour pushes players to the utmost by demanding the cooperation of the full team if anyone hopes to last the night against their demonic foes.

In Devour, the objective is to find and destroy key items scattered across the map, doing one's best to survive the level's terrifying boss in the meantime. The Asylum is a sprawling map that makes navigation difficult, even when the player isn't being chased by Molly. Here's everything players need to know in order to persevere in the Asylum.

Welcome To The Asylum

Devour - The Asylum Ghoul

Players spawn in one of the Asylum's various elevators at the beginning of the game. Leave the area and proceed down the hallway ahead, then turn right and check the second door on the right to find a key. There's an enemy here as well, but they're inactive and not a concern. Yet. Take the key before moving onward. The Asylum is a massive map compared to others in Devour, so players should do their best to remain oriented as they move throughout the level.

Take the stairs to the upper floor. There the player will find a fireplace on the right, and, just beyond it, the door to the ritual room. Knock over the trashcan to spawn rats into the map, as these will be necessary for completing one of the primary map objectives: sacrificing them.

The player can take this time to gather resources and familiarize themselves with the map since the level's boss (Molly) won't begin hunting them until someone activates the switch beside her body. Eight of the needed fuses can be found before the hunt begins, while the final three won't spawn until after the switch is activated and Molly is on the move.

Worthy Sacrifices

Devour - Electric Rat

Place the first fuse and flip the switch. Doing so allows the player to take rats and sacrifice them at an active fuse. Be warned, however: once a rat has been sacrificed, a new fuse must be set up. The player can spawn additional rats by luring them out of hiding with platters of food or by knocking over trashcans. With every sacrifice that advances the ritual, Molly will grow angrier, a terrifying sight indeed.

Once the ritual has begun, Molly will be on the move, and it's important to track her whereabouts throughout the Asylum lest the player is caught off-guard and downed. Knowing the location of the wheelchair demons throughout the Asylum helps as well, though it's not as important as knowing where Molly is. Accessing different parts of the map requires keys. Unfortunately, key locations are all randomized, except for the first one located near the player's spawn point. Fuses, platters, and other important resources will respawn throughout the map after use.

Defeating Molly

Devour - Molly

Sacrificing seven rats causes windows on the map to begin to shatter. Players should be prepared because the sacrifice of the eighth rat increases Molly's power. From now on, Molly moves faster than the players, and three staggers are required to halt her attacks. In the ninth stage, Molly's power increases again, reducing the delay between her being staggered and the resumption of her attacks.

During this phase, Molly will continue hunting even if she has already taken a victim, making this stage of the game extremely dangerous and difficult if the players do not coordinate their actions well. The players now must complete a 10th and final sacrifice. Doing so purifies Molly, exorcising the demon from her body.

Devour can be played on PC.
