There are a number of new activities in Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, and one of them is the Kurast Undercity, a type of dungeon that players can run to target-farm items. The Undercity is a great place to get good gear, but to get the most out of it, you'll need to learn how Tributes and Bargains work.
The Undercity has no key or entrance requirements, unlike Diablo 4's Pit of Artificers. As long as players have unlocked it, they can do as many runs as they want. However, without Tributes and Bargains, you might be better off farming some other place instead.

What Are Tributes In Diablo 4?
Tributes are classified as dungeon keys, even though they aren't exactly needed to enter the Kurast Undercity. Instead, they guarantee that certain types of loot will drop at the end of an Undercity run. They will positively skew the odds in your favor by making sure that you get the items you want, and this includes Diablo 4's rarest Unique items.
Tributes often have a clear requirement, and usually, players need to finish an Undercity run after reaching Attunement Rank 1.
How To Get Tributes In Diablo 4
You can get Tributes by finishing activities like dungeons, public events, and even Kurast Undercity runs. They might also drop from Diablo 4's Helltide chests and Tree of Whispers caches. In any case, you're bound to get some as long as you're playing the game.
Take note that you may need to finish the entire Undercity questline in Kurast before Tributes start dropping. The final quest in that series will also give you a few Tributes to start with.
Some known Tribute types include:
- Tribute of Growth: Rewards additional Experience.
- Tribute of Harmony: Guarantees Rune drops.
- Tribute of Radiance: Guarantees Ancestral Legendary item drops.
What Are Bargains In Diablo 4?
Bargains modify your Undercity loot even further by providing more modifiers on top of whatever loot is guaranteed by your Tribute. Instead of consuming items, using a Bargain will require a payment of crafting resources, currency, or both.
As you progress through Diablo 4's Difficulty levels, you'll soon start getting better Tributes that can be affixed with even more Bargains, including ones that guarantee Offensive Legendary items, items with Skill Ranks, class-specific Uniques, and more. The price for using these become significantly more expensive, however, so make sure not to ignore other parts of the game in order to get the resources you need.
