Disney Dreamlight Valley's various biomes are filled with dozens of different creatures that players can feed, befriend, and ultimately unlock as equippable Companions. From fluffy Rabbits to fierce Cobras to mystic Baby Dragons, every single biome in Disney Dreamlight Valley has its own unique type of critter, available in various colors.

This Disney Dreamlight Valley tier list ranks every type of critter found in the base game and both expansions - "A Rift in Time" and "The Storybook Vale." It does not rank Companion animals that are unlocked via participating in Star Paths, quests, or events. Companions only available to purchase via the Premium Shop using Moonstones are also not ranked on this tier list. Factors considered include the critter's availability, how difficult it is to feed, and how rare the Loved food items they request are. However, all critters in Disney Dreamlight Valley are absolutely adorable and worth unlocking as Companions, regardless of where they place on this list - there are no truly "bad" critters.

S-Tier Critters In Disney Dreamlight Valley

• Squirrels
• Sea Turtles
• Sunbirds

The three types of critter in this tier are all available in the base game of Disney Dreamlight Valley, and do not require purchasing an expansion to unlock them. They are also fairly easy to feed - Squirrels in Dreamlight Valley's Plaza will simply run up to players to be fed, while Sea Turtles on Dazzle Beach and the Sunbirds of the Sunlit Plateau require a little bit of patience.

In addition, their Loved foods are common items that can be easily found around the Valley and do not require a lot of work or money to obtain. Squirrels love Peanuts - purchasable at Chez Remy - while Sea Turtles like Seaweed, which can be fished up in open water in their home of Dazzle Beach. The Sunbirds are perhaps the easiest critters of all to feed; they enjoy flowers that match their coloration, and can easily be fed using the Houseleeks and Bromeliads found in their home biome, the Sunlit Plateau.

A-Tier Critters In Disney Dreamlight Valley

• Foxes
• Rabbits
• Capybaras
• Baby Dragons
• Owls

The critters in the A tier consist of two categories: base game critters that require players to chase after them in a game of tag, and easy-to-feed critters from Disney Dreamlight Valley's two expansions. Rabbits, which reside in the Peaceful Meadow, and Foxes, found in the Frosted Heights, require players to chase and catch them three times before they settle down. This is not too much effort, but is a little more annoying compared to the critters who simply want patience. However, they do make up for this required effort by wanting food native to their home biomes: Carrots for Rabbits and White Sturgeon for Foxes.

Capybaras and Owls, like Squirrels, require fairly cheap foods - Cabbage and Barley respectively - and will simply allow players to feed them without playing any games. However, they do require purchasing an expansion, "A Rift in Time" for the Capybaras and "The Storybook Vale" for the owls.

Finally, Baby Dragons, also found in "The Storybook Vale", simply require patience, and can be fed using gemstones mined in the Mythopia and Everafter biomes. They rank so highly both because they are simple to feed and because they answer a long-time player wish. Dragons have been one of the most requested critters since Disney Dreamlight Valley's launch.

B-Tier Critters In Disney Dreamlight Valley

• Crocodiles
• Raccoons
• Pegasi

The critters in this tier are either difficult to feed or require a somewhat expensive meal. The Crocodiles and Raccoons in the Dreamlight Valley base game play "Red Light, Green Light" with the player. Players must wait until the creature has lowered its head until they can move closer. They must approach the critter slowly, bit by bit, until finally getting close enough for the "Approach" prompt to appear. Moving while the critter's head is up will cause it to spook and flee. Getting the correct timing can be incredibly difficult, especially when it comes to the crocodiles, who are naturally low to the ground.

Fortunately, the Raccoons want an easy-to-obtain food - Blueberries, which are picked in the Forest of Valor where they live. Crocodiles are slightly more difficult; their favorite, Lobster, is fished in their home biome of the Glade of Trust, but is harvested from the rare golden bubbles. Fortunately, a quality of life update to Disney Dreamlight Valley introduced the Miracle Fishing Bait, which lets players turn common white bubbles into gold ones.

The adorable Pegasi - based on Hercules' pet, Pegasus - are native to the Storybook Vale expansion. They play Tag and must be chased, and will eat either 4-star or 5-star vegetable-based meals. They rank slightly higher than other critters who require rare foods because they will accept 4-star alternatives and because there are a high number of vegetable-based meals, such as soups and salads, that can be made using extremely common ingredients. They also, like the Baby Dragons introduced in the same expansion, fill the fan demand for more fantastical and mythical critters.

C-Tier Critters In Disney Dreamlight Valley

• Ravens
• Cobras
• Monkeys

The Ravens, who live in the Forgotten Lands of the base game, and the Monkeys, who live in Eternity Isle's Ancients' Landing, rank low because of how picky they are. They will accept only 5-star meals - any meals for the Ravens and desserts only for the Monkeys - so players will have to spend a lot of resources and ingredients to befriend even one of these critters. Even their Liked foods, which increase their bond slightly, are 3- and 4-star meals, meaning that players will have to put in some work. The Ravens in particular rank low because, compared to every other critter in the game, they have a fairly limited color variation. Except for the White Raven, they are relatively dull-colored and most have some amount of black in their color pattern.

Finally, the Cobras, while adorable and ferocious little reptiles, combine several frustrating elements. First, they are expansion-exclusive, being found in the Glittering Dunes biome introduced in "A Rift in Time." Second, they play the annoying "Red Light, Green Light" game requiring players to inch towards them. This game is particularly difficult with Cobras, as their heads are extremely small, and it can be difficult to see when they are actually lowered. Finally, they move extremely quickly and can travel long distances compared to other critters, meaning players will have a long way to go when chasing after them if they mess up the game.
