Summary
- Disney Dreamlight Valley's 2024 Halloween event disappoints with a lack of new offerings from last year.
- Gameloft maintains a commitment to updates but faces backlash over recurring items and glitches in this year's Halloween event.
As this year's Disney Dreamlight Valley Halloween event goes live, many longtime players are disappointed about the lack of new offerings, as almost every paid and free item that players can get is reportedly the same as those available last year. Ever since Disney Dreamlight Valley was released back in 2022, it has kept players entertained with all the updates and new offerings that developer Gameloft has rolled out. However, there have also been some issues along the way.
Earlier this year, Disney Dreamlight Valley released its plans for Halloween 2024, which reportedly had many players excited about the return of the beloved event, as it often features several items related to the season. This year, among other things, Gameloft announced that candy buckets would appear in the plaza, allowing players to both eat the candy and use it to craft furniture items.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Launches Trick or Treat 2024 Event
Disney Dreamlight Valley kicks off Halloween with its annual Trick or Treat event, featuring new and returning rewards for players.
Unfortunately, it would seem that the hype among players didn't last long, as the Halloween event, which is now live, has many longtime players disappointed about the lack of new offerings. Along with many other things, it was reported that this year's event would feature Mickey's Halloween Candy Bowl, the free Mickey BOO Loungefly backpack that glows in the dark, and a 20% discount on the Tower of Terror. However, the majority of these items, as well as others announced, were already available at last year's Halloween event, which disappointed more than a few people. October has been a busy month for Gameloft, as it not only made announcements about the upcoming Halloween event, but also released an update for Disney Dreamlight Valley on the PS4 and PS5, one that would apparently fix visual stuttering and lagging gameplay on both consoles.
Disney Dreamlight Valley Players Are Disappointed With This Year’s Offerings
Maintenance and innovation have always been at the forefront of this title, as Gameloft has been constantly releasing content such as the Jungle Getaway update for Disney Dreamlight Valley, which not only introduced two new Disney characters, but also added a new Star Path. And while such implementations have been mostly welcomed by players, this year's Halloween event's lack of variety, as well as a few glitches, have also reportedly caused a negative sentiment among fans.
Not long ago, several players complained about a birthday cake glitch in Disney Dreamlight Valley, which made it impossible for them to advance through an event that was happening at the time. Although the issue was resolved and players were able to continue their quests shortly after the initial report was made, it's undeniable that the game has had a bumpy history.
That said, one thing that players usually look forward to is the introduction of new characters. When Steamboat Willie was added to Disney Dreamlight Valley, many fans were ecstatic about it and did not hold back from expressing it on online forums and other outlets. Hopefully, Disney Dreamlight Valley's next week's digital showcase will get players excited about the game's plans for the rest of the year, and offset the negative perception of this year's Halloween event.
