It’s not like Gadabouts are completely worthless until that time though. They have a great ability called Whistle which can prompt a random battle without having to rely on walking around to prompt something. In battle, Gadabouts are not that effective compared to many others.

Besides the stealing factor, Thieves have some useful offensive skills too like the Shocking Slash. Monster Wrangler is a new class in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake and it’s also part of a new side quest. Players can travel around the world and befriend monsters to use in the area. The more monsters players save, the stronger the Monster Wrangler will become.
For example, the in-battle skill, Lashings of Love, will deal more damage with a greater amount of rescued monsters. If players stay on top of this side quest, they can have a killer Vocation in their party with skills like that.
4 Priest
A Designated Healer

The Priest is the designated healer of the group but it’s not that weak compared to other healers in RPGs. It has offensive elemental spells so it can fight back with magic like Swoosh. It excels in healing and supportive magic truth be told though like Multiheal.
This spell will heal the whole party for a decent amount and Fullheal will get the job done completely but only on a single party member. The only thing not cool about this Vocation is the getup as it is a bit too cliche.
3 Mage
Burn The World With Magic
- Best Ability: Kaboom
The Mage is the polar opposite of the Priest as it only deals in offensive magic. There is a litany of powerful spells it can learn like Kaboom. This non-elemental spell can hit the entire army of enemies in battle and sometimes even blow them away with a single cast.
Mages don’t have a lot of HP or defense though so they are vulnerable to enemy attacks. Mages tend to be glass cannons in RPGs so it makes sense. That said, with good equipment on hand, players should be able to keep them alive.
2 Sage
The Best Of Both Worlds
- Best Ability: Kazing
The Sage mixes Priest and Mage spells together all in one incredible Vocation. Besides the Gadabout route, players can also find the Words of Wisdom item to transform any class into a Sage. No matter how players do it, they will not regret their decision to evolve their current party to make room for the Sage.
It’s convenient to have healing and offensive spells together and the stats are better balanced when leveling up. There are a lot of great spells to highlight for the Sage but Kazing stands out the most as it can revive a party member on the spot.
1 Hero
A Well-Balanced Protagonist
- Best Ability: Omniheal
The Hero is the class reserved for the main character of Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. Players cannot give this class to anyone else nor can they evolve the main character into another class. That fact makes it limited but even so, players wouldn’t want to multiclass the main character anyway.
The growth rate is high when leveling up and like the Sage, players will get a well-balanced amount of healing and offensive spells. There are a lot of exclusives too and the best of which has to be Omniheal which can restore all HP for the whole party.
