EA has spoken before about its desire to make a blockbuster action title?such as those created by Ubisoft and (Rockstar Games parent company) Take-Two. And as development continues on EA's very own Grand Theft Auto?and?Assassin's Creed-style game, the company has now revealed a little bit more about what fans can expect.

Speaking during the UBS Global Technology Conference 2017, EA's chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen shed more light on the in-development action adventure game. The team at Motive (which is being led by former Ubisoft developer Jade Raymond) has created something that looks "fantastic and very exciting," said Jorgensen. The game promises "a lot of new interesting gameplay that I don’t think anyone’s ever seen before," added the executive.

Jorgensen went on to add that as action adventure games are the largest sector in gaming, it offers EA with "huge opportunity." The executive explained that "it’s one we haven’t spent a lot of time in because we were so focused on sports and first-person shooters."

As its first proper foray into the world of modern action adventure games, EA is under a lot of pressure to deliver. Ubisoft and Take-Two's games have continued to push the boat out on that front and EA will have to do something radically new and different to really get players to pay attention.

EA Montreal Expansion

For example, Assassin's Creed Origins offers the series' largest world yet, letting players explore a huge part of ancient Egypt and visit some of the most famous monuments in history. The Grand Theft Auto franchise, meanwhile, is renowned for its personality as its worlds and its stories encourage players to spend a whole lot of time on its virtual streets.

It's unclear how EA and Motive's new action adventure game would be able to go above and beyond that. Could it give players more activities to do? Could offer a giant, sprawling playground with new ways to interact with the world and its characters? It's difficult to imagine what the game might include - but then again, this just means that EA and Motive will be able to surprise everyone.

During the conference Jorgensen also confirmed that EA's action adventure game will not be released until fiscal year 2021, which runs from April 2020 until March 2021. While that gives the development team at Motive plenty of time to polish those gameplay features, it also gives fans plenty of time to speculate on what the game might offer.
