  • Some have even wondered if perhaps Pickle Rick from Rick and Morty could be coming back.

The countdown to Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 2 is here, with Epic Games teasing players with a new post that can only be described as "perplexing." Ahead of Fortnite's highly anticipated new update, Epic Games Vice President and Co-Founder Mark Rein shared one word to describe the next season: "pickled." Players are hard at work on deciphering what this may mean for the game, though pickles certainly don't seem to fit in with previous rumors claiming Fortnite's next update will be heist-themed.

Fortnite seems to constantly be churning out major game-changing updates with each and every season, with recent years proving to be especially transformational for the massively popular, free-to-play title. What started as a simple battle royale game has evolved into its very own platform, with developer Epic Games making it clear through recent updates that Fortnite is much more than the sum of its parts. Last year, a new FPS mode was introduced for Fortnite called Ballistic, as were major changes to the game's LEGO mode. Now, players find themselves on the cusp of a brand-new season, one which will seemingly be connected to pickles.

A leak suggests that another Metal Gear crossover could be coming to Fortnite in the future, perhaps to promote the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta.

Epic Games Co-Founder and Vice President Mark Rein sparked intrigue with his most recent tweet, in which he simply shared one word to tease Fortnite's next season: "pickled." This peculiar word choice has stumped Fortnite fans, leaving some questioning what may be around the corner. "What in God's name could this possibly mean," asked one fan in response to Rein's tweet while numerous users responded with pictures of Pickle Rick from Rick and Morty. This wouldn't be the first time Fortnite has crossed over with the adult-oriented sci-fi animated series, though it would certainly be a unique theme to wrap an entire season around.

New Fortnite Tease Leaves Players Confused

"Pickled" doesn't really fit in with what has been previously rumored for Fortnite either, with leakers claiming for several weeks now that the game's next season will be heist-themed. Again, these are just rumors, but considering recent changes to Fortnite, a heist-themed season doesn't seem too far off. As far as anyone knows, pickles may even relate to this heist season, though only time will tell what Fortnite's next season actually looks like.

As stated earlier, players are currently at the tail end of Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1, an update that brought numerous changes and introduced several gameplay tweaks. Not only did this update add several new areas to Fortnite's ever-changing island, but it also saw quite a few more collaborations added to the game. Crossovers and collaborations have become a key part of the Fortnite experience, with Season 1 seeing King Kong, Baymax, and Skibidi Toilet all make their way into the game. Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 1 is set to wrap up on February 21, with Season 2 to kick off shortly after.
