During Square Enix's Uncovered: Final Fantasy 15?event, the developer reveals that a new CGI movie, titled?Final Fantasy 15 Kingsglaive,?will be released ahead of the game.

Square Enix's highly-anticipated?Uncovered:?Final Fantasy XV?event?unveiled a considerable amount of?Final Fantasy XV?news?and upcoming content, including the game's?long-awaited release date. While there were numerous reveals made at the event, one of the most surprising announcements was the unveiling of an upcoming feature-length CGI film titled Final Fantasy XV Kingsglaive.

Running parallel to Noctis' story in?Final Fantasy XV,?Kingsglaive?tells the story about the Noctis' father, King Regis, and what happens to his kingdom during the events of the game. King Regis will be voiced by Sean Bean, and will feature additional voice performances from Lena Headey and Aaron Paul, who will play?Final Fantasy XV?heroine?Lunafrena Nox Fleuret and a new character named N Ulric?respectively.

The film will be directed by Takeshi Nozue, who previously directed?Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, and the?Kingsglaive?team is primarily comprised of those who also worked on?Advent Children. Other than stating that the film will be out before the game, Square Enix revealed that while?Kingsglaive?won't see a theatrical release, it will be available for fans through streaming or download.

The fact that Square Enix revealed?Kingsglaive while not addressing a few other rumors - such as a?PC version of?Final Fantasy XV?-?was certainly a surprise to everyone. In fact, the film was kept under wraps so well that Aaron Paul stated that he only started work on?Kingsglaive?a few days ago. The reasons for the game's delay have been well documented, and producing a full-length CGI film alongside?Final Fantasy XV?surely played some part in it.

With a new?Final Fantasy XV?anime spin-off?in the works, as well as the release of the?Final Fantasy XV platinum demo, Square Enix is?making up for lost time in their promotion of the game. Given that?Final Fantasy XV?is expected to be enormous, gamers are going to be spoiled for choice when it comes to?Final Fantasy?content before and after the game's September launch.

There's no word on when and how?Final Fantasy XV Kingsglaive?will be released, but?Final Fantasy XV?is scheduled for launch on September 30, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
