Epic Games releases the new Cowabunga event in Fortnite, bringing back the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as well as new content including a reward pass, cosmetics, and skins for popular characters like Shredder and Splinter. Collaborations and crossovers have become a staple for the popular online shooter, with Fortnite mixing with tons of franchises and IPs like Marvel, DC, anime, and video games, including the likes of Master Chief and Kratos to name a few. With how popular these events are, there are no signs of Fortnite slowing down anytime soon, especially now with Epic Games and Disney teaming up.
A few months ago, Epic Games revealed a crossover with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, bringing the four brothers alongside April O'Neil into Fortnite's in-game shop at the start of Chapter 5, season 1. Players could also grab sprays, emotes, back blings, and all sorts of additional cosmetics to really customize their experience as well. At that point, players could only purchase the skins using V-Bucks, either individually or as a bundle, though this wouldn't be the last time that TMNT's would arrive. After teasing the introduction of Splinter earlier this year, Fortnite's latest TMNT crossover event has arrived, bringing new ways to earn gear.

LEGO Fortnite Leaks New Content Including Weapons and Enemies
A LEGO Fortnite leak reveals a bunch of content, including weapons and enemies, that will be added to the sandbox mode in the future.
In a new blog post, Epic Games outlined the Cowabunga event, which kicks off on February 9 and runs through the rest of the month before ending on the 27th. During that time, players can complete Cowabunga Quests to earn ooze, a currency which is used to unlock reward tiers on a limited time Battle Pass. Players can visit the Cowabunga tab in the lobby to see their progress as well as which quests need to be completed, which typically involve actions like traveling through sewers or buying one of the Turtles' weapons from a vending machine. For those who want a bit more, there is a premium rewards track available for 1,000 V-Bucks, including the heavily teased Shredder skin, and new quests will be added every three days, with the first set available now.
Fortnite x TMNT Rewards and Skins
For many Fortnite players, the biggest element to this new crossover event is the previously teased Shredder cosmetic skin, which is unlocked simply by purchasing the premium reward track and unlocks the LEGO minifig as well. The crossover also brings back the four Turtles and April O'Neil skins into the Fortnite shop as well. Here are all the rewards as well as how to unlock them:
- Super Shredder - Reach the end of the Premium Cowabunga Reward Track
- Krang Back Bling - Complete at least 5 quests in all six Cowabunga Quest Groups
- Splinter Skin - Can be purchased from the Fortnite Shop
- Turtle Blimp Glider, Kuro Kabuto Bass, OOZE Wrap, TMNT Pizza Back Bling - Free Cowabunga Reward Track
With the latest collaboration now live, fans are continually looking ahead at where this game could go. While the recent Epic Games and DIsney partnership certainly holds plenty of potential for future events, a recent rumor seems to indicate that Saban's Mighty Morphin Power Rangers could be coming to Fortnite. According to XboxEra, Epic Games could be introducing the original Power Rangers team as playable characters, likely as purchasable skins in the shop.
