Funko Fusion finally releases on September 13, and fans will be able to celebrate their fandom by diving into IP-based worlds, playing fan-favorite characters like Masters of the Universe's He-Man, and collecting to their heart's content. Of course, that's the kind of fun no one wants to come to an end. Funko Fusion is an all-in-the-box content complete game, however, and that means there's a lot to enjoy for its entire runtime. What's next, though, is a question we asked 10:10 Games.

Before the title's release, Game Rant spoke with 10:10 Games co-founder Arthur Parsons and lead character artist Sean Dudley, among others, about all things Funko Fusion for Game Rant Advance. An important part of that conversation is how the community has factored into its development, how the team intends to celebrate its release (launch day is always special), and the all-important "What's next?" The following interview has been edited for clarity and brevity.

Community in Funko Fusion

Q: Fandom and community have always been important elements of Funko. How does Funko Fusion tap into those elements of the brand?

Parsons: Fandom and community and the essence of Funko is embodied throughout Funko Fusion. We spent a long time in the early stages of the project working closely with our friends at Funko to make sure we really understood them, their ethos, and their fanbase. This is obviously made easier by the fact that so many of us are Funko Fanatics already, but we want the game to be a digital embodiment of everything that is fantastic about Funko. Like I say, we treated Funko as an IP within the mix for Funko Fusion, so it is not only the glue that binds everything together, that connective tissue that runs through every element in the game, it is also something that needs to be celebrated and loved throughout the game.

Q: What has been the most requested IP addition by the community thus far?

Parsons: There are too many to mention, and we still get requests every day. Obviously, I think some of the requests are definitely left field, and some are suggested by folks who perhaps don’t fully understand the world of video game licensing, but we enjoy reading suggestions all the same. For us, we’ve just had a great deal of fun surprising players with some of the reveals for the game, and who knows, we may still have surprises to offer.

Q: Funko Fusion is getting its own Funko Pop!s as well. What's it like seeing something you’ve made also getting this sort of physical attachment?

Dudley: It’s a really proud achievement and a strange moment at the same time to see some of the Pop!s we’ve made as a team on the shop shelves. It’s especially great to see them next to the games on display stands. A highlight for myself, though, is sculpting the Indominus Rex, which I was surprised Funko had never made before, but also the Blair Monster from the Thing, with it being such an iconic and cult movie. It makes it even cooler that the two Pop!s are super-sized Pop!s – I just need to find somewhere to display them in my house.

Celebrating Funko Fusion

Q: What’s the plan for 10:10 games on release day? Any special celebrations planned?

Parsons: We have a few plans for release day. Obviously, most importantly, is that we make sure we press the buttons to ensure that the game goes live for everyone to play and enjoy. And we’ll be eagerly watching reaction videos and let’s plays, but at the same time, the team will be able to celebrate the launch of our debut game. We do have some other plans to celebrate as a team, but those are super secret right now. We definitely want to make sure that our team feels appreciated for all of their efforts in making Funko Fusion so brilliant.

Q: Are there any current DLC plans for Funko Fusion after release? Anything you can discuss?

Parsons: We are definitely plotting and planning some fun stuff; however, right now, my lips are sealed. As a team, we still have some work to do to bring the multiplayer mode to players, and also to make sure that the PS4 and Switch versions are as fantastic as the PS5, Xbox, and Steam versions. Once we’ve got that work done, we can start whispering about what’s next.
