- Fans are not thrilled with niche weapon use as Varesa is expected to arrive around March 26.
A new Genshin Impact leak has revealed tons of information about a new five-star weapon that should arrive in the next update. Even though Genshin Impact 5.4 has not yet arrived, leaks have hinted at the content that should become available in the upcoming Version 5.5.
Before the arrival of each update, Genshin Impact hosts a beta that usually reveals most of the upcoming content, including new regions, weapons, characters, etc. According to a couple of recent leaks, update 5.5 will feature two new characters, Iansan and Varesa.

Genshin Impact Players Want Changes to Current Banner System
Genshin Impact players want changes to HoYoverse's Limited Character Banner that would allow re-runs to occur more frequently.
Weapons are a major part of each character's build in Genshin Impact, since they have a large impact on their overall power in combat. Genshin Impact follows a pattern of releasing a signature five-star weapon for each new five-star character that joins the roster. According to a new post on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit, the upcoming Version 5.5 will add a five-star Catalyst for Varesa. The weapon is called Rainbow's Wish, and it will provide tons of offensive stats. The fact that its secondary stat grants CRIT Damage usually indicates that the five-star character associated with the weapon, which in this case is Varesa, will be a new DPS unit in Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact: Varesa Signature Weapon Details Leaked
- Weapon Type: Catalyst
- Weapon Rarity: Five-star
- Base ATK: 674
- Secondary Stat: CRIT Damage
- Secondary Stat Value: 44.1%
- Passive Effect: Increases ATK by 28%. When the weapon wielder uses their Plunging Attack, they gain an effect called First Light's Color, which increases the CRIT Damage of Plunging Attacks by 28%. Upon using an Elemental Skill or Burst, they gain another effect that buffs Plunging Attack CRIT Damage by 40%. Both of these effects last up to 15 seconds and end after a Plunging Attack is used. This effect suggests that the new Catalyst will be designed for specific DPS characters in Genshin Impact who use Plunging Attacks as their primary source of damage.
Overall, fans don't seem too happy about the new weapon, claiming that its use is way too niche, as there are not many characters who rely on Plunging Attack damage, especially not Catalyst users in Genshin Impact. While there are still no credible leaks about Varesa's kit, this weapon leak suggests that she will rely on Plunging Attacks to deal most of her damage.
When it comes to Varesa's release date, there is still no official information about her banner placement. Assuming that HoYoverse continues with its usual pattern of releasing new five-star characters in the first banner cycle, Travelers can expect Genshin Impact Version 5.5 and Varesa to arrive around March 26.
