- The Special Program for Genshin Impact 5.4 will take place on January 24, 7:00 AM (UTC-5).
- The new Inazuma character Yumizuki Mizuki has been confirmed to be coming in the update.
Genshin Impact has officially revealed that the upcoming Special Program event for Version 5.4 will take place on January 24, beginning at at 7:00 AM (UTC-5). Since its official release back in 2020, Genshin Impact has been following a pattern of hosting a livestream event that reveals most of the upcoming content, including new characters, regions, and weapons.
Developer HoYoverse has already confirmed that the upcoming update will include one new five-star character, the long-awaited Yumizuki Mizuki. This Inazuma character has been mentioned in numerous leaks over the last couple of months, and it seems like she will finally be joining the roster in the next update.

An interesting Genshin Impact chart reveals the most popular playable characters of 2024, with two Fontaine units claiming the top spots.
Even though the second part of Genshin Impact Version 5.3 arrived just a couple of days ago, HoYoverse has already started with its announcements for the next update. According to the most recent announcement, the Special Program for Genshin Impact Version 5.4 will be held on January 24 at 7:00 AM (UTC-5). Many fans seem surprised by such an early livestream date, considering that it usually arrives around 10 days before the update officially launches. However, the main reason is probably the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday season. The official art used for this Special Program announcement features the new five-star character Mizuki, again confirming her involvement in the upcoming storyline.
Genshin Impact 5.4: Special Program Date and Time
Mizuki has been confirmed as an Inazuma character, which means that the story will most likely shift from Natlan and return to the Electro nation. This does not come as a big surprise, considering that HoYoverse usually takes a break from the main region's arc around this time of the year. The second part of the ongoing Version 5.3 will take players back to the fan-favorite Liyue region, which always hosts Genshin Impact's Lantern Rite Festival.
When it comes to character releases in the upcoming Genshin Impact update 5.4, the fact that Mizuki has been the only announced character so far indicates that there won't be any more roster additions. This also means that there should be three banner re-runs in 5.4, and recent Genshin Impact leaks have already hinted that Fontaine's Cryo user Wriothesley will finally get his first re-run after his release back in update 4.1.
Rumors claim that the update will also feature two Hydro characters: Lady Furina and Sigewinne. It seems like HoYoverse will continue its pattern of featuring an Archon in each update after a new region arrives. However, many fans still seem surprised that Furina will be joined by Sigewinne, considering that they appeared together during Genshin Impact Version 4.7. These banner rumors should still be taken with a grain of salt, and players will get more official confirmation in the upcoming livestream event.
