Enough has already been shared from WB Games Montreal’s Gotham Knights to establish the plot. Batman’s death, which is still shrouded in mystery, is the catalyst for Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood to band together and defend Gotham City against iconic super-villains and the enigmatic Court of Owls.Gameplay has also been shared in two separate presentation walkthroughs. The first walkthrough centered on Batgirl and Robin as they engaged in a boss fight with Mr. Freeze. Meanwhile, the second walkthrough centered on Nightwing and Red Hood and offered an in-depth look at moment-to-moment gameplay in the open world and RPG elements such as suit crafting. Now that each character’s core gameplay has been shown at least a bit, there is still much Gotham Knights could show. Today, it has been announced that even more is set to be revealed from Gotham Knights.RELATED: Gotham Knights Developers Respond to Batgirl CriticismStreaming live on Thursday, June 9, Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest kickoff is set to feature a “world premiere new look and reveal” for Gotham Knights. Keighley’s latest promotional video for the event went out yesterday, and in it were brief shots of Gotham Knights, as well as Marvel’s Midnight Suns and others that are teased to make an appearance. Because Gotham Knights appeared in this promo, fans may have already expected that the co-op action-RPG would be at Summer Game Fest, but now it is official and fans have an idea of what to look forward to.

If Gotham Knights’ new world premiere and reveal are anything like their last two presentations, it is possible that fans will get another early look at a sequence from the game that potentially leads to a boss fight. Until Thursday, however, fans should temper expectations that any new gameplay will be aired, especially after the reception to Gotham Knights' recent gameplay demonstration. Gameplay is implied by “world premiere new look,” but that could also be referring to a simple cutscene reveal with no actual gameplay attached.

It makes sense for the reveal to be a presently unannounced super-villain, as many have already been teased yet only a few have been officially confirmed. Now that fans have already had fairly long looks at Mr. Freeze, the Penguin, and the Court of Owls, such a reveal may entail another antagonist who is featured in an optional side mission of some sort.

There is an abundance of iconic Batman villains that WB Games Montreal could have hand-picked for Gotham Knights. Further, there is a chance that fans will learn more about which ones those are at Thursday's Summer Game Fest kickoff, but it could also be another sort of reveal entirely to continue its marketing until October.

Gotham Knights releases October 25 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
