With the next entry in the Battlefield series in development, the developers have turned to the community to help create the next entry in the form of Battlefield Labs. This is an early access title that will allow people to help test certain aspects of the next game to help the development teams figure out what works and what doesn't. With how controversial the series' last game was, EA is seeking to get the players themselves to help determine what features they may want to see.

Battlefield Labs is a Bold Experiment That Could Have Huge Payoffs
DICE recently announced some big changes for the next Battlefield game, and Battlefield Labs has the potential to be a great step forward for the IP.
This next entry in the series has four studios collaborating on the game, and they don't seem prepared to cut any corners when it comes to development. So for any enthusiastic fans out there that are looking to be a part of the development cycle of the next game, here is a guide on how they can be a part of Battlefield Labs and join the first wave of testing.
How To Join Battlefield Labs
Signing up for Battlefield Labs is a pretty easy process that requires players to go to the official Battlefield Labs website. They can then scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the "Get In The Lab" button. It is hard to miss as it is right underneath a large "SIGN UP FOR A CHANCE TO PLAY" headline.
They then will need to sign into their EA account that is linked to their platform of choice and that's it. Players will then receive an email that has more information for them about the playtesting, as well as asking them to sign an NDA to make sure no secrets are spoiled to the public. With Battlefield being a marquis release for EA and its studios, they are going to be sure to not want anything getting leaked online that they haven't released themselves.
The playtesting will be available on all platforms: PC, Xbox, and PS5. On the two consoles, a subscription to either Playstation Plus or Xbox Live is required to participate in the online multiplayer functionality. With the series' focus on multiplayer, this makes sense and the testing is not expected to involve any sort of single player content.
The first round of testing should be happening within the next few weeks, as indicated in the announcement of the program, though specific dates have yet to be released. What can be expected is that there will be a few rounds of testing over the next few months and years as the game is developed.
There is little information about what the next entry in the Battlefield series is going to look like or even what it will be called. While 2042 was less-than-loved by many in the community, it had some interesting concepts that could be carried over into the next game. And with DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and Motive all involved in this playtesting experiment, it looks like they're wanting to pull out all the stops to help the franchise bounce back from that lackluster release.
