What Would You Want to See Change with the Daily Climbs?
I'd love to see a NYT Crossword style option, where there were daily minis, or a few different options every day.
Finish This Sentence: You're Not a "Real Gamer" Unless You've Played ___________
There are so many "must-plays" out there, but what are those games that you simply cannot call yourself a gamer if you haven't played? Sure, you've got your GTAs and?Witchers, but for me, you ain't a gamer unless you've put some time into the classics like?Tetris?and Pac-Man!
Which Video Game Made You Wish You Would Have Played It Sooner?
I'm so guilty of having a huge library of amazing, unplayed games friends have recommended to me over the years. The best games that flew under my radar for way too long were Disco Elysium and It Takes Two. I absolutely loved both of those and the quality and writing really took me by surprise. The Witcher 3 might be the next to fall into this category for me, once I finally get around to playing it.
Will You Play Slay The Spire 2 Early Access or Wait for a Full Release?
I don't play a lot of early access games, but it will be hard to resist with a new Slay the Spire!
What's A Secret That Surprised You In Stardew Valley?
I've been playing since before 1.3 and I've seen most of what the game has to offer, even super rare events. But the other day, I found a rainbow with a pot of gold at the end of it! There was even a leprechaun hat, which my character has been wearing ever since.
Can Indie Games Compete with Big Studios?
For me, indie games are proof that creativity and passion can sometimes outshine big budgets. Recent hits like Hades and Celeste show that even without the massive resources of big studios, indie devs can create some of the most memorable and innovative experiences. That being said, indie games can sometimes feel rough around the edges. They might not have the same polish or the huge production value as AAA titles, but what they often lack in budget, they make up for in originality. It's the heart and soul poured into these games that make them stand out. Sure, some indie games might have glitches or short content, but the sense of community around them can be unmatched. The devs often engage with players directly and listen to feedback, which makes the experience feel more personal. It’s that connection, combined with unique gameplay, that makes indie games so special. What do you all think? Are indie games the future of gaming, or do they still have a long way to go to compete wit
What's That One Really Long Game You Need to Finish?
For me, the one game that I hope to finish is Metaphor: Refantazio. I got about 20 hours in and took a break and now I'm moving on to other games. I still wanna beat it, but it might take me some time to get back deep into it.
What 2024 Game Are You Trying to Finish this January?
I'm trying as hard as I can to get through Metaphor ReFantazio but I fear this will be one that either falls into the backlog of shame or that I chip away at gradually over the next few months...and then it falls into the backlog of shame.
What Game Will Get You To Buy a Nintendo Switch 2?
I know a new Legend of Zelda is easily years away, but the promise of a new Zelda exclusive to the Switch 2 would make me buy it ASAP.
What Hyper Light Breaker Changes Do You Want In The Early Access?
I would like Heart Machine Games to take another stab at the difficulty in?Hyper Light Breaker, and maybe tune up the number and power of gear you can get while exploring the overgrowth. Enemies just deal way too much damage to successfully complete a run, let alone kill a boss, without a completely overpowered build. And even then, I had a very good build going into a boss and still got decimated. And now after about 6 hours of play time I'm still stuck at this very first Crown. Additionally, it takes way too long to get through the death screen right now, I'd really like to see some streamlining there too. Gear degradation and the 2-minute-long trek back to the Overgrowth make death a way bigger friction point than I feel like it should be. 850
Can Visuals Save An Otherwise Bad Game?
For me, it really depends on how much the game's identity is based on its visuals. As a recent example,?Hyper Light Breaker's early access is fun but definitely needs a lot of tuning. But its uniquely vibrant, colorful, synthwave-inspired art design shows off some of the most gorgeous aesthetics I've ever seen, which gives me a reason to come back and check in on its development. If the foundations of the game aren't good, or the devs show no promise of improving it, I can't look past major flaws if the graphics are pretty.
What Are Your Thoughts On Hyper Light Breaker So Far?
I feel like the foundations of?Hyper Light Breaker?are really good, and I can see it becoming a really fun extraction roguelite by the time it leaves early access (in about a year). But as it stands right now, the game is way too difficult and I have had an extremely hard time even getting to the first boss, let alone killing it. The load screens between deaths should be significantly shorter, too – taking two minutes to get back to the Overgrowth is frustrating. But the combat itself, the progression system, and the gorgeous visuals are a great start to what I hope will become an awesome game in the future.
What Unreleased Class Do You Want To Play Most in Path of Exile 2?
If the list of classes in the in-game Support Gem selection window is to be trusted, I'm very excited to play as a Duelist again. It was my main class in the first Path of Exile, and if it ever comes with the sword family of skills and weapons, I'm definitely doing yet another Cyclone build.
What's Your Go-To Game When You Haven't Got Much Time?
As much as I'd love to spend a few hours on gaming regularly, adulting and being a parent makes it tough to do! Games like?Balatro?have been great for short play sessions (if I can resist not playing "just one more round"), what's your pick for those quick flashes of gaming?

Have You Played Animal Well?
I haven't had a chance to check out?Animal Well, but between the Indie Game of the Year nomination and the nod from?Balatro's dev as being their favorite game of 2024, it's getting harder to ignore. Have you played it? What did you think? If you haven't click the linked article to the right for more info!
What's Been The Best Epic Store Freebie You've Claimed?
The Epic Store has never been shy with giving away free titles for eager fans. I'm not sure which one I would consider the?best, but most recently I managed to snag?Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria?and a couple of?Warhammer 40K?titles that kept me well and truly busy.
What Were Your Top 3 Games of 2024?
There were plenty of great titles out this year, but I fear I missed a lot of them! I still need to make the time for the big ones like?Black Myth: Wukong?and?Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, but I'd say my top picks for this year would be?Astro Bot,?Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, and?Marvel Rivals. Who sits on your 2024 podium?
Do You Think 2025 Is The Year We Finally Get Silksong?
I'm honestly starting to lose hope for?Hollow Knight: Silksong?coming out at all. Every year it seems more and more like something went wrong in its development or at Team Cherry itself, it wasn't long ago that?Silksong?was featured in a compilation of Xbox games that were guaranteed to be coming out within the next 12 months, and that video came out in 2023. With virtually no news since its delay, I honestly don't think it's coming out in 2025. And if it doesn't come out this next year, and if we don't get any news in 2025, I think a lot of people are going to disembark what was once an unstoppable hype train for the sequel to one of the most beloved indie games ever made.
What January Game Are You Looking Forward To The Most?
Hyper Light Breaker has been on my radar ever since it was announced. I loved Hyper Light Drifter, and while this new game is leaps and bounds different from its predecessor, it still looks like it's right up my alley. I've been craving for a new third-person action roguelike, and I hope Hyper Light Breaker can scratch that itch.
