Invincible season 2 will take a mid-season break, and Robert Kirkman said there are multiple reasons why fans will want to take time off.

Invincible creator Robert Kirkman “guarantees” that fans will never have to wait for a new season as long as they had to for season 2. It has been two and a half years since the first season released its final episode, and the second season will finally premiere on November 3rd. Previously, Kirkman explained that the only reason for the Invincible season 2 release date delay was the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused them to shut down and required a long time to rebuild the team. In an interview with Variety, Kirkman was asked if they plan to release a new Invincible season each year.

“That is the goal. The realities of animation may make that a little difficult, but what I can guarantee is that the gap between Season 1 and 2 is the longest gap we should ever have, you know, barring some unforeseen catastrophe. It may be every 18 months or 16 months or 13 months or every 12 months. We’re still trying to figure that out.”

Invincible fans may not get a new season every year, but it is good to hear that Kirkman and his team are making that their goal. Kirkman was talking about seasons of Invincible, so they could still decide to produce other spin-offs like the Atom Eve special to tide fans over between seasons. However, Kirkman still made sure to cover his bases in the case of another “unforeseen catastrophe” shutting down production.

Invincible season 1 was remarkable, which made the wait for season 2 so much more painful. Luckily, the series has already been renewed for season 3, and Kirkman has his plan for how many seasons the show would need to cover the entirety of the Invincible comics. So fans can expect a lot more Invincible content in the future.

Invincible season 2 is just around the corner, and every fan will be happy to know that they won’t have to endure a wait like for this show ever again.
