LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is proving to be one of 2022's most popular games so far in the days following its release. Almost immediately, the game topped Steam's player numbers, breaking previous records of concurrent players in both the Star Wars and LEGO game categories. Combining all nine main Star Wars movies in one game, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has attracted all kinds of fans, bringing the nostalgia of the former LEGO games back for many players.

To a lot of fans, Star Wars simply wouldn't be the same without its overarching villain, Emperor Palpatine, who acts as the central antagonist for each Star Wars trilogy. It was no surprise then that Palpatine appears in the story of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga as both a villain and as a playable character. Though, Palpatine is not always the scarred old emperor that fans see in the original trilogy, and the character begins his time in the Star Wars movies as Chancellor.

It is in this role as Chancellor that Palpatine must hide his true identity as a Sith Lord. This has led to a funny Easter egg in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which shows what happens when Palpatine gets a little too comfortable while the player is AFK. Shown in a clip, Palpatine is happily standing with his hands behind his back, before a lightsaber slips out of his robes. The Chancellor then quickly looks around to see if anyone noticed before kicking the weapon back into safety.

The animation shows off a perfect mix of Star Wars lore tied in with typical LEGO humor. It is a small nod to the fact that Chancellor Palpatine was keeping his identity hidden for so long, but could have been discovered as a Sith Lord at even the slightest mistake. While a few fans didn't like the story of the prequel movies, many thought that Palpatine's ultimate strategy playing out through the early Star Wars stories was a highlight, as it has led to many memes, theory videos, and more created by the Star Wars fandom.

As Chancellor Palpatine is one of hundreds of playable characters in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, it is possible for fans to miss out on this small Easter egg. There are plenty of other cool details and character interactions in the game for players to explore as well, such as a conversation between a young Anakin and Darth Vader. The characters are missing one thing in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, however, and that's customization, something fans have sorely missed in the latest LEGO Star Wars title.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
