Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is bringing its signature style back to Hawaii after Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth established it as a fantastic setting for the series. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is set to star fan-favorite character Goro Majima in a Gaiden-esque solo game that looks to add a pirate flair to the series' historically urban underworld aesthetic. While there are plenty of new additions for fans to be excited about, perhaps the most enticing part of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is the way it incorporates popular elements of the series' past.
A major draw of the Like a Dragon franchise is the selection of mini-games and side activities players can participate in outside of the main story. The series has historically featured dozens of ways players can spend time engaging in fun distractions that have helped the Like a Dragon games develop their unique identities. Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth expanded this line-up of mini-games ever further, but one of the best new modes from the game deserves to see a comeback in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii's recent trailer details its ship exploration and combat, showing clear shades of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag.
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Should Feature Infinite Wealth's Sujimon Battles
Although the Sujimon concept first appeared in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, it was developed into a full-blown battle mode in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. Players could recruit new Sujimon from around the Hawaiian map to battle for them and take on the Sujimon League in an optional but expansive side story. With how robust the mechanics for Sujimon recruiting and battling are, it would be a shame for the mode to be left out of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, especially since other major activities from Infinite Wealth appear to be returning.
Every Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Mini-Game Confirmed So Far
- Crazy Delivery
- Karaoke
- Dragon Kart
- Masaru’s Love Journey - My Dream Minato Girl -
Some of the best mini-games from the past few Like a Dragon games have already been confirmed to be included in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. Crazy Delivery from Infinite Wealth and Dragon Kart from Yakuza: Like a Dragon are both great additions that were previously exclusive to protagonist Ichiban Kasuga. The series' staple karaoke mini-game is also returning alongside the brand-new mini-game "Masaru’s Love Journey - My Dream Minato Girl -" which remains shrouded in mystery, but there is room for other new and classic side activities to be featured as well.
Majima is the Perfect Protagonist to Expand the Sujimon Mini-Game
Historically, only Ichiban has been able to participate in Sujimon-related activities, like completing the Sujidex in Yakuza: Like a Dragon or becoming champion of the Sujimon League in Infinite Wealth. Part of this exclusivity could be attributed to the more wacky nature of Ichiban as a protagonist compared to Kiryu, but he's not the only protagonist to have a silly side. Majima is beloved for the goofy antics of his Mad Dog persona, so collecting and battling Sujimon would be a natural fit for the character.
After Ichiban defeats the Sujimon League in Infinite Wealth, the current leadership disbands, and the Discreet Four vow to rebuild the league, potentially creating the perfect premise for Majima to become a new challenger.
With the way the Sujimon storyline has evolved between Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Infinite Wealth, it seems like taking it a step further in Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii would be the logical progression. The game already looks to feature a mechanic that allows Majima to assemble his pirate crew and take to the seas for naval combat, but his time on land could end up being spent training and battling new Sujimon.
