Summary

  • Loki season 2 release date has been moved up to October 5th, a day earlier than originally planned, giving fans less time to wait for the highly anticipated continuation of the series.
  • The new release time for episodes is 6 pm Pacific time on Thursdays, a departure from the midnight releases of other MCU Disney+ shows, possibly due to the success of giving Ahsoka a similar time slot.
  • The finale of Loki season 2 is set to be released on November 9th, potentially conflicting with Thursday night showings of The Marvels, but Marvel might find a solution to avoid this clash.

The Loki season 2 release date was moved up sooner than planned as if Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief was messing with the timeline again.

Loki season 1 was adored by fans and critics, becoming one of the best Disney Plus Marvel Studios shows. Loki season 2 has several issues to address, including what happened to the TVA. Fans would get a second season but would have to wait a while before finally seeing it. The wait will be shorter, as Disney Plus has decided to move up the release date.

Marvel Studios announced that the Loki season 2 release date will be moved to Thursday, October 5th at 6 p.m. Pacific time, which is 9 p.m. Eastern time. Loki season 2 was originally going to premiere on October 6th. Alongside the announcement was a video of behind-the-scenes footage from the show's production.

It was revealed in a press release that subsequent episodes will also be released on Thursdays at 6 p.m. Pacific time. This will be the first MCU Disney Plus show to get a 6 p.m. PT release, as all the others have been midnight releases. Disney Plus has been constantly shifting release dates and times for their series. Ahsoka was supposed to premiere on Wednesday before being moved to Tuesdays. Ahsoka was also given the 6 p.m. premiere time, which may be why Loki is getting it.

Much like season 1, Loki season 2 will also be six episodes long. This new premiere date means the finale will be released on November 9th as long as Disney Plus doesn’t do a 2 episode premiere. If this is the case, that means the Loki season 2 finale will be released a day before the theatrical release of The Marvels. Like most films, The Marvels will have Thursday night showings that would conflict with the Loki season 2 finale.

It seems odd that Marvel Studios would have the Loki season 2 finale clash with the Thursday night showings of The Marvels, but they may have decided that it would be better than clashing with the Friday night showings. Marvel Studios could still fix this by releasing 2 episodes on the same day or by shifting the release day and time again. Fans should keep their eyes peeled for any more “time slipping."

Loki season 2 premieres on October 5th, 2023.
