- The Regal Cinemas promo mystery costume in Marvel Rivals will not be unique, sparking community controversy.
- NetEase Games faces backlash from fans for offering existing skin instead of a new MCU variant like Red Hulk.
- Fans eagerly await Season 1 update with new map, Human Torch, and The Thing on Feb 21.
Marvel Rivals recently revealed that the mystery costume given to players as part of its Regal Cinemas promotion with Captain America: Brave New World will be an existing skin, sparking controversy within the hero shooter's community. Many gamers are eagerly awaiting a major update for Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, which is currently scheduled for release on February 21. Marvel Rivals shared that the patch will include a new map along with the debut of Human Torch and The Thing.
NetEase Games recently announced a promotion between Marvel Rivals and Regal Cinemas, which stated that fans who go see Captain America: Brave New World on its opening weekend at a participating theater would receive free cosmetics. It was revealed that the bundle would be comprised of a nameplate, a spray, and a mystery costume. With Red Hulk being a major part of the film, many fans were hopeful that the skin would be an MCU variant of Hulk.

Marvel Rivals Players Have a Major Issue With Scarlet Witch
Marvel Rivals fans take to social media to express frustration with the Duelist Scarlet Witch in NetEase Games' popular hero shooter.
In a recent post on Reddit, Jtneagle shared a tweet from Marvel Rivals clarifying that the mystery costume associated with its Regal Cinemas promotion will not be a unique skin. The statement also revealed that players who already own the cosmetic will not receive any additional rewards. Many gamers were quick to express their displeasure with the news, claiming that the promotion between Marvel Rivals and Captain America: Brave New World should reveal which costume is included ahead of time. Some players even called the promotion "shady," as its initial phrasing didn't make it clear that the reward would be an existing cosmetic.
Marvel Rivals’ Mystery Costume Won’t Be Unique
Since NetEase Games confirmed that the mystery costume won't be Red Hulk, many fans are hoping it will be a skin for Captain America in Marvel Rivals. The Vanguard recently received an MCU bundle with an outfit inspired by his appearance in Avengers: Infinity War, though many players are doubtful that the developers would give the skin away for free so soon after its release. A few people commented that Captain America's Galactic Talon outfit would be a perfect fit for the promotion, as it was only available in the shop during Season 0. Regardless, a large portion of the community is asking the developer to announce which skin will be given out with the promotion.
This isn't the first time NetEase Games has made a controversial decision, as it recently announced plans to reset everyone's rank as part of its mid-season update for Chapter 1: Eternal Night Falls. The community immediately took to social media, with many fans saying that losing their current rank would discourage them from playing the game. In response, Marvel Rivals canceled plans for the rank reset hours later and thanked gamers for their feedback. While there's no way of knowing how NetEase Games will handle the criticism of its Regal Cinemas promotion, many fans are hopeful that the developer will reveal the mystery costume soon.
