Marvel Rivals has made quite an impact within the first two seasons, debuting with a roster of over thirty different characters to choose from across the three roles of Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist. In addition to this, Competitive Play was launched very promptly after the game went live for players, letting everyone dive into grinding up the Ranks and earning seasonal cosmetic rewards as soon as they hit Player Level 10.

As more and more players dive into both Quick Match and Competitive Play, they will become more aware of a game mechanic known as Ace, or 'the Ace'. If you've stumbled upon this little indicator throughout your various matches but are struggling to fully understand what it is, why it may appear, and what it means, all relevant information has been included in the guide below, including a complete breakdown of all situations in which players may encounter it.

What Does Ace Mean in Marvel Rivals?

Marvel Rivals players don't think Magneto should reload.

In Marvel Rivals, there are two different circumstances in which a player may see 'Ace' appear during their matches. The first of these is team fight Ace, which may be referred to by players saying "I got an Ace" or "We got an Ace" - this occurs when during a team fight, you and/or your teammates all manage to kill every single person on the opposing team within quick succession, much like the 'Team Kill!' callout in Overwatch. During these circumstances in which the enemy team has all been killed/are dead at the same time, this Ace will be indicated by a graphic that displays on the side of your screen. You can also unlock customized hero graphics for these Ace animations through the Proficiencies mechanic.

The second circumstance in which players may see 'Ace' is through the team Ace indicator. Both throughout and at the end of the match, the top performing player on each team will have a banner on their icon with 'Ace' - meaning they are currently performing the best in their role out of everyone on their team. At the end of a match, the winning team's Ace becomes the MVP that you see on the end screen, whilst the losing team's Ace becomes the SVP.

To become the team Ace, there are a number of things that are taken into consideration. Players who have scored Multikills of a 3 or more have a solid chance of becoming Ace, as well as players who have very strong numbers in their most important fields, such as Damage Blocked for Vanguard players, or Healing and Assists for Strategist players. Team Ace will often change multiple times throughout the game, especially if more than one player is performing well, so you shouldn't worry too much about securing it as your primary focus. This is because Ace does not offer any bonus benefits other than seeing yourself and your KDA score appear on the end game screen alongside your relevant hero's highlight intro - It's simply more of a fun addition, loosely similar to a 'play of the game' or 'player of the game' mechanic.

Here is a list of all things that may be considered for determining a team Ace, which is often achieved by meeting multiple of these criteria:

  • Most Damage Blocked on your team
  • Most Damage Dealt on your team
  • Most Assists on your team
  • Most Healing on your team
  • Least Deaths on your team
  • Achieving a 3, 4, 5, or solo team kill
