Summary

  • Deadpool has had numerous variants, from his daughter Ellie to high-tech Deadpool 2099, each with unique powers and abilities.
  • Ellie Wilson, Deadpool's daughter, has the potential to surpass her father with superior healing powers and hypercognition.
  • Dreadpool, created by Psycho-Man's manipulation, is the most powerful and malevolent Deadpool variant, seeking to destroy all creation.

Deadpool has been around for a long time. He might have started out way back in 1991 as a "we have a Deathstroke at home" knockoff, but he's grown into one of Marvel's most popular heroes. His journey has been a long one, going from straight villain to edgy anti-hero to full-blown hero.

8 Best Anti-Heroes In Movies, Ranked

Movies aren't always about the good guys versus the bad guys. Anti-heroes fall into a morally gray category, and these are the best of the bunch.

That means that, like every other major Marvel hero, there have been many Deadpool variants revealed over the years, many of which account for some of Deadpool Vs. Wolverine's best easter eggs. Not all of Deadpool's variants were created equally, however. They range from the comically inept to the hilariously overpowered.

For this list, we've used "classic" 616 Deadpool as a baseline and only included versions from the comics.

8 Ellie Wilson

Has The Potential To Surpass Her Father

Deadpool's daughter, Ellie Wilson
  • First Appeared In Deadpool (Vol. 5) #19

Deadpool has had numerous children over the years (including a symbiote dog-daughter), but his favorite has always been Ellie. Ellie first appeared back in 2013 and her relationship with her unpredictable, absent father has often been rocky. They recently repaired this relationship, though, which is a good thing since it looks like Deadpool's days are numbered.

Every Deadpool Movie, Ranked

Deadpool has been the star of three movies so far, Deadpool & Wolverine being the most recent. How do these three movies compare?

1

In the current comics run, Ellie is set to take over as Deadpool. Readers haven't seen much of her in action, but things look promising. Ellie shares her father's healing power, but hers is superior because it's not being hindered by cancer. She also has hypercognition and a photographic memory. Even though she's not as experienced as Wade right now, these powers make Ellie a quick learner, even capable of copying Taskmaster. If Marvel lets her stick around, she could end up surpassing her father. That being said, Ellie's sane, so she'll probably never beat her dad's best quotes.

7 Deadpool 2099

Has High-Tech Gear And A Robot Dragon

deadpool 2099
  • First Appeared In Deadpool #6

Deadpool 2099, aka Eleanor Camacho, is another one of Deadpool's daughters, this time hailing from the futuristic Earth-16356. If this all sounds a bit familiar, that's because it's the same setting for the excellent Spider-Man 2099 comics. Deadpool 2099 is the daughter of Wade and the queen of the underworld, Shiklah. She inherited her slightly demonic look from her mother and her father's healing factor.

What sets Deadpool 2099 apart, however, and places her just above Ellie Wilson is the gear she's packing. Being from the future (kind of), Eleanor comes with a super-advanced suit and weapons that would make Iron Man blush. If that wasn't enough, she rides around on a robot dragon and has a small army of Bobs at her command. Like her father, she started as a villain before taking a more heroic turn. While fans haven't seen that much of Deadpool 2099, she has plenty of potential.

6 Lady Deadpool

The Heroic Female Counterpart

Lady Deadpool
  • First Appeared In Deadpool: Merc With a Mouth #7 (2010)

If either of the above Deadpools ever surpasses their father, the result will likely be something akin to Lady Deadpool from Earth-3010. Lady Deadpool hails from a dystopian version of Marvel's Earth where America has been torn apart by civil war and is led by an evil version of Captain America, General America.

These Deadpool and Wolverine comics stand out as the very best.

Lady Deadpool leads the resistance forces and is generally a much more heroic version of Deadpool. She shares all the regular Deadpool's powers but is better with a blade and is sane. In her appearances, she's also proven herself to be a better leader and played an important role in the battle against the Evil Deadpool Corps. This all adds up to a Deadpool that is slightly better all around, landing her a ranking on the lower end but above his daughters. She recently had one of the best cameos in Deadpool Vs. Wolverine, so it seems likely fans will see more of this Deadpool variant in the future.

5 Death Mask

A Deadpool/Doctor Doom Combo

Death Mask
  • First Appeared In Amazing Spider-Man Annual #38 (2011)

Marvel has given fans a lot of Deadpool variants that are mashups of Deadpool and existing characters. Most of them, like Wolverinepool and Octosquatchpool, come with cool designs but don't last long enough for fans to get a good read on how powerful they are. Death Mask bucks this trend.

This version is from Earth-11638 and is a Deadpool that Reed Richards managed to cure of cancer. Unfortunately, the process stripped this Wade of his moral compass in the process and made him super-intelligent. Using his intelligence, this Deadpool made himself some Doctor Doom-style armor and created a vast criminal empire. He then killed his universe's Victor Von Doom (who was in the process of becoming one of regular Deadpool's best friends) and attempted to kill Earth-616 Deadpool. Death Mask has all of Deadpool's usual powers but is far smarter. What makes him so dangerous, though, is the pact he made with Mephisto. That's something that could make him a multiversal threat when he finally reappears.

4 Venompool

Wade With A Symbiote

Deadpool Venompool
  • First Appeared In Deadpool What If? #1 (2011)

Venompool is the first entry on this list that can be described as a big step up from the classic Deadpool. He comes from Earth-90211, a world stuck in the 1980s in which Deadpool was hired by Galactus to kill the Beyonder. Instead, he ended up befriending him and living a party-boy lifestyle. Things only go wrong when this universe's Deadpool meets and bonds with Spider-Man's symbiote.

Deadpool is one Marvel character with many former romantic partners, but most of them don't last long, or end well.

The result is a Deadpool who is carrying around twice the crazy and has all the usual symbiote powers. At first, he tries to be a hero, but his insatiable hunger means he has a nasty habit of killing his villains. Ostracized by the other heroes, Venompool decided to make himself important by killing almost every hero and villain in his universe. Venompool was strong enough to go toe-to-toe with some of his universe's most powerful beings and is the star of one of the best villain Deadpool comics, landing him a high ranking.

3 Galactipool

A Planet-Eating Powerhouse

Galactipool just before he dies
  • First Appeared In Deadpool Kills Deadpool #2

Galactipool wasn't around for long, so fans don't know much about him. What readers do know is that he's easily one of Deadpool's most powerful variants. The reasoning is simple: Galactus, who can devour planets and rewrite reality, is one of Marvel's most powerful villains and Galctipool seems to have all of his powers.

Galactipool appeared as a member of the Evil Deadpool Corps and was tasked with wiping out what remained of the good Deadpool Corps by consuming the planet they were hiding on. He was stopped when Ladypool crashed her ship into his head. This showed that even the most powerful versions of Deadpool could be prone to humiliating deaths during the Deadpool Kills Deadpool event.

2 Captain Pool/Cosmic-Pool

Wielded Cosmic-Level Power

Captain Deadpool
  • First Appeared in Deadpool Volume 4, #27

There are a handful of ways characters can become insanely overpowered in Marvel Comics. One of the best ways is to interact with the primordial forces that created the universe, which is exactly what Deadpool did during the Deadpool vs. Thanos storyline. In this arc, Lady Death, the love interest of both Deadpool and Thanos, goes missing. When the two find her, they discover she's being held by Eternity, which is basically the living embodiment of the Marvel Universe. Thanos attempts to kill Eternity to win Lady Death's favor, which would effectively destroy all life, forcing Deadpool to step in.

The Merc with a Mouth has appeared in plenty of What If stories in Marvel Comics, but these are the best.

This leads to Eternity allowing Deadpool to merge with the UniPower, giving him the same abilities as Captain Universe. For those not in the know, Captain Universe is one of Marvel's most powerful heroes. His power catalog is vast but includes tools like matter manipulation, reality warping, and basically omnipotence when he needs it. Using these newfound powers, Deadpool easily defeats Thanos, despite the fact the Mad Titan is acting as Lady Death's avatar (increasing his powers).

There's very little this version of Deadpool isn't capable of. However, Deadpool's time as Captain Pool was limited, as the powers gifted by the UniPower are nearly always temporary. Captain Deadpool later reappeared as a variant in Deadpool: The End #1 as a possible future for Deadpool. This version of the character reshapes all of Marvel's existence to make it a happier and more hopeful place.

1 Dreadpool

Wants To Destroy Everything

Deadpool - Dreadpool and the Evil Deadpool Corp
  • First Appeared In Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe #1

Dreadpool is proof that no good deed goes unpunished. His story begins with the X-Men sending Deadpool to a mental institution so he can get the help they think he needs. Instead, he ends up getting brainwashed by Psycho-Man, who wants to turn Deadpool into a ruthless killer by convincing him that his universe is fake and everyone in it needs to die. This process works too well and turns this Deadpool into a humorless nihilist determined to destroy all creation.

It's Dreadpool's sheer willpower, focus, and plot armor that makes him so powerful. He's been the focus of some of the best Deadpool comics and was responsible for wiping out his entire universe. He then moved on to the Ideaverse and began wiping out literary legends like Sherlock Holmes, Moby Dick, and Dracula. With this task accomplished, he set his sights on Marvel's multiverse and assembled the Evil Deadpool Corps with the mission of hunting down any Deadpool that could serve as a threat against him. No other Deadpool variant has been anywhere near as deadly or accomplished as much as Dreadpool. He might be the most evil version of Wade Wilson, but he's also the most powerful.
