Before going on a four-week hiatus, Oda decided to drop arguably the greatest chapter of the year. He had been focusing on the events taking place away from Egghead; he delved into what exactly happened at the Reverie. Oda revealed a lot of information, some of which left One Piece fans awestruck. The latest One Piece chapter also contained major news.

In Chapter 1086, Oda finally moved to the conclusion of the flashback concerning Sabo and what he saw in Marijoa. The chief of staff revealed that he stumbled into the Empty Throne room, where he saw Imu and the Five Elders trying to kill Nefertari Cobra. Sabo tried to protect him, but he couldn't do much before the overwhelming power of the Five Elders and Imu. So he had to run away to save his life.

The End

The Five Elders from One Piece

The Reverie's conclusion meant that the biggest gathering of monarchs came to an end. While everyone was leaving, Igaram was still in Marijoa, looking for any possible clues that would lead him to Vivi. Little did Igaram know that Vivi was on her way to meet Morgans along with Wapol. In the meantime, the Five Elders were talking to Imu, as they wanted to know the supreme leader's next move. Imu expressed his desire to use Mother's Flame to destroy the Lulusia Kingdom.

The Five Elders had no other option but to go with Imu's choice. The kingdom of Lulusia was destroyed, but Sabo escaped along with several other people. As the story moved to the present day, it was revealed that the Celestial Dragons were quite unhappy because of the food shortage. Before the chapter's conclusion, Oda revealed that a Celestial Dragon had been executed.

Saint Figarland Garling

Figarland Garling from One Piece

The Celestial Dragon who suffered a grim fate was none other than Donquixote Myosgard. He was the only sensible Celestial Dragon, and he did not consider himself to others. So, it was a shame to see him die in such a manner. The news was concealed from the rest of the world. Keeping in mind that the Celestial Dragons are untouchable, this raised the question of who had the authority to do it. It was subsequently revealed that Saint Figarland Garling was responsible for the execution. Figarland Garling was confirmed to be the commander of the Holy Knights, who are protectors of Marijoa.

As the commander, Figarland Garling has the highest authority among all of them. Oda also disclosed that Figarland Garling used to be the king of God Valley, a place that mysteriously disappeared from the face of the world. Some translators have pointed out that the Japanese word translates to champion instead of ruler. Figarland Garling also carries a sword, which seems to be broken at the hilt, implying that he might have fought in a major battle. Given his status as a warrior, it is fair to assume that he might have been involved in the battle against the Rocks Pirates. At the moment, it is only speculation, but it should be revealed in the upcoming chapters. Saint Figarland Garling is a bigoted individual, as his reason for persecuting Myosgard was that he defended the Fish-Men.

Connection To Shanks

Shanks possible member of D family

At first glance, it doesn't seem that Figarland Garling is related to Shanks in any way, but there is a strong possibility of the two being related. Shanks' past was disclosed in One Piece Film: Red. According to the film, Shanks was found by Gol D. Roger in God Valley. Shanks was inside a treasure chest, and it is very likely that he was put there by someone else. So far, only two natives of God Valley have been publicly revealed. One of them is Shanks, and the other is Figarland Garling. It is common knowledge that Oda does not introduce characters without a motive, and they usually have ties with others.

Shanks is very likely the son of Figarland Garling, and the latter might have left him in the box to protect him. Rocks D. Xebec was attacking the Celestial Dragons, and Shanks would not have been safe. So, Figarland Garling had to make the tough decision of leaving his son. Shanks being a Celestial Dragon would also explain how he was able to travel to Marijoa and seek an audience with the Five Elders. Even on Marineford, Sengoku said that he stopped the war because it was Shanks' request. Both of these incidents imply a secret that Shanks is hiding from the rest of the world.

The Questions

Shanks meets the Five Elders

Shanks' lineage raises a lot of questions concerning his actions. If he is a Celestial Dragon, why did he steal the Gomu Gomu no Mi? The fruit was going to be delivered to the World Government, but Shanks decided to attack the ship carrying it. If he wanted the Devil Fruit for himself, why didn't Shanks consume it immediately? Was he holding on to the Gomu Gomu no Mi for someone else?

Donquixote Homing left Marijoa on his own accord, and when he tried to come back, the Celestial Dragons refused. So did the Five Elders make an exception for Shanks because he tries to maintain peace in the world or because of his relationship with Figarland Garling? There are a lot of questions surrounding Shanks, and hopefully, they will be answered soon.
