One Piece recently went on a 2-week long break and it goes without saying that this waiting period was incredibly hard for the fans. Now, the wait is almost over and the series is set to return later next week. During this break, Oda spent his time planning things related to both his manga and, of course, One Piece Live Action as well.

One Piece: Oda Reveals The Shocking Past Of Admiral Fujitora And Greenbull In SBS Volume 110
Volume 110 of One Piece reveals the past of two members of the admirals: Fujitora and Greenbull. Here's what Oda had to say about them.
However, Oda did not leave the fans without any content during this time. It was announced a week ago that Oda would answer 10 exciting questions about One Piece, and that these questions would excite the fans greatly. Now, these questions have finally been revealed, and much to the surprise of the fans, one of them reveals the bounty of Fleet Admiral Akainu to the fans.
The Cross Guild Bounty System Was Revealed In The Final Saga
- Buggy, Crocodile, And Mihawk Started The Cross Guild
- The Marines Are Now Being Hunted
For the fans wondering how Fleet Admiral Akainu even has a bounty, they need not look further than the Cross Guild. The Cross Guild is an organization that was established after the abolition of the Shichibukai system. Following the removal of the Warlords, Crocodile and Mihawk banded together, and, due to the circumstances, were presumed by the world to be under Buggy's flag. Buggy was made a Yonko, and Crocodile and Mihawk were seen as his subordinates. Clearly, they became a mighty force, and together, the group was recognized as one of the Yonko crews. More than that, however, the Cross Guild acted maliciously against the World Government. Usually, Pirates and Marines mind their own business unless there is an all-out war, which is quite rare. Of course, there are skirmishes here and there, but all-out wars hardly ever break out between these groups. But, the Cross Guild is different.
Now, the Marines are going to be hunted!!
The Cross Guild has directly attacked the Marines by putting bounties on their heads. This way, people all over the world are actually turning their eyes on the Marines and hunting them down. The bounties placed by the Cross Guild are quite different from the bounties that the World Government utilizes. While the World Government publishes a straight reward on one's head, the Cross Guild utilizes a crown and star system. One star equals 100 million berries, and usually, low-ranking members of the Marines, such as the lieutenants and Captains, usually have stars as bounties. The Vice Admirals, for instance, have 5 star bounties. However, unlike the pirates, these bounties are not based on the strength of the Vice Admirals.
For instance, fans know that Vice Admiral Red King is weak in comparison to Vice Admiral Smoker. However, both of them have a five-star bounty on their heads. Meanwhile, fans also know that the Admirals of the Marines have a three-crown bounty on their heads. A crown is different from a star as a single crown equates to a billion berries. Having a Three Crown Bounty on their head means that the Admirals of the Marines have a 3 billion berries Bounty.
Garp, the Navy Hero, was also revealed to have a Three Crown Bounty despite being a Vice Admiral. However, his case was an exception, given that he had a reputation as the Hero of the Marines. Naturally, fans were unclear as to how high the Bounty of Fleet Admiral Sakazuki would be. Finally, it has now been revealed that Fleet Admiral Sakazuki has one of the highest bounties in the entire series and it has now been officially confirmed by Oda himself.
The Bounty Of Fleet Admiral Akainu Is Finally Revealed
Fleet Admiral Akainu's Bounty Surpass 3 Billion By Far
Fleet Admiral Sakuzuki, also known as Akainu, took charge of the Marines around the timeskip. This change came about because Sengoku left his position and someone else had to rise to the rank of Fleet Admiral. Kuzan and Sakazuki fought for this position and after a 10-day battle on Punk Hazard, Sakuzuki emerged as the victor. He was then made the Fleet Admiral, while Kuzan left the Marines.
One Piece: Oda Reveals New Devil Fruits In Latest SBS
Oda revealed some new devil fruits in the most recent SBS. New information on the vice admirals is revealed.
Sakazuki is known to hunt down pirates and even try to go head-to-head with the Yonko themselves. Naturally, a Marine so hot-headed would get a high bounty. As confirmed by Oda himself in his answer recently, Fleet Admiral Sakazuki has a bounty of Five Crowns. Essentially, this means that Sakuzuki's overall bounty would translate to 5 billion berries, which is absolutely staggering.
So far, only three individuals in the world of One Piece have hit a bounty close to 5 billion berries. These individuals are the strongest man in the world, Whitebeard, the Pirate King, Roger, and now, the third individual to join this list is none other than the Fleet Admiral of the Marines, Akainu. However, there is potential for one more individual to join this list, and that person is none other than the Former Fleet Admiral of the Marines, Sengoku. Given that he held the rank of Fleet Admiral as well, it is highly likely that Sengoku has Five Crowns on his head too.
Is Akainu Stronger Than The Yonko?
Akainu Is Not Necessarily Stronger Than The Emperors
Fleet Admiral Akainu having a bounty of 5 billion berries essentially raises quite a lot of exciting questions. Many fans are starting to wonder how strong Akainu truly is. Others are comparing Akainu to the Yonko, whose bounties are usually in the 4 billion berry range. Fans need to keep two things in mind. The first is that Fleet Admiral Akainu was always going to be incredibly powerful. He is one of the final antagonists of One Piece, and Oda cannot afford to keep him on the same level as the other Admirals. He was always going to be stronger, and he might even have Supreme King Haki at his disposal. Even that aside, Akainu was always going to have a higher bounty. However, Sakazuki having a 5 Crown Bounty doesn't necessarily mean that he's stronger than the Yonko.
For one, bounties are not a representation of strength at all. Secondly, the Marines are the strongest organization in the world, given that they have thousands upon thousands of recruits, and are the military face of the biggest power, the World Government. Naturally, their reward is going to be slightly inflated, and fans know that doesn't necessarily mean that Akainu is stronger than the likes of Blackbeard, Kaido, or Shanks. In fact, if anything, fans saw Akainu being demolished in combat by an old and dying Whitebeard in Marineford.
Naturally, Akainu likely has strengthened himself ever since, but he would still not be on the same level as the likes of the legends of the world, such as Whitebeard and Roger. Fans will most definitely get to see the extent of his strength, and it is safe to say that his bounty is very impressive in many ways, but that doesn't mean he's stronger than the Yonko. Hopefully, Fleet Admiral Akainu will be called into action soon enough, and when that happens, fans will most definitely get to see how he truly compares to the likes of the Yonko.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1131, is set to be November 11, 2024.
