An Overwatch 2 fan just made an adorable custom emote for Kiriko. This precious animation shows off the newest support in Overwatch 2 and her spectral fox companion in the cutest way possible.3D animator and Overwatch 2 fan Jupit was the mastermind behind this adorable Kiriko emote. They shared the animation on their PJ Rascals Twitter account–a collaborative space shared with fellow Overwatch 2 enthusiast and animator Piston FX. In the animation, Kiriko’s spirit fox appears behind her and looks up at the healer before both take a big stretch. The fox lays down and gets comfortable, only for Kiriko to join in, snuggling up close to the spectral spirit. As the two begin to doze off, the kitsune curls its fluffy tail around Kiriko’s body. Jupit created the animation because none of Kiriko’s emotes currently feature the kitsune, leading them to make one inspired by a piece of art from Kiriko’s origin story during her reveal in Overwatch 2.
Jupit shared some work-in-progress renders of earlier versions of the emote on their personal Twitter. Apparently, Jupit considered making a bench for the two to nap on, or having the kitsune appear and tackle Kiriko. They ultimately decided to go for a sleepier route for this animation, but do hope to revisit the playful angle in another Overwatch 2 emote in the future.
The hearts of Overwatch 2 fans melted when they saw Jupit’s adorable animation. The animation was so crisp that some players thought the Kiriko emote was real and immediately rushed to the Overwatch 2 shop to buy it. Though the animation is a little long to be feasibly used as an emote in Overwatch 2, players confirmed they would throw a game to use it–especially after a successful Ana sleep dart. At press time, the animation attracted nearly 4000 retweets and over 27,000 likes.
Fans of Kiriko can currently get the incredible Amaterasu skin in Overwatch 2 for the new support by completing the premium Battle Pass for Season 3. This Mythic skin has three different color variants, each with its own armor, color, face tattoos, and hairstyles. Her kitsune spirit likewise changes depending on which customization players choose to use. With so many options, players who acquire this skin can make sure they always look their best in each match. It is a shame Jupit’s emote isn’t available in Kiriko's other appearances, however–one can only imagine how adorable the animation would be with the Mythic skin
Overwatch 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
