Hideouts are personal spaces for players in Path of Exile 2 that can be customized to their unique preferences, unlike anything else in the game. Whether it's different decorations, the placement of vendor NPCs, or the layout of the Hideout itself, everything can be changed.

As an added benefit, players can create and share their Hideout templates with each other through a certain third-party website, which can, in turn, be used by any other player who likes them. This process is called importing a Hideout, and it's fairly simple to get a hang of. Here's the rundown.

How to Import Hideouts With MTX in PoE 2

mtx enabled hideouts in path of exile 2-1

To import a Hideout that uses Microtransaction-only decorations, you will need to first buy those decorations yourself to get the intended look. You can find which MTX decorations you need to buy by checking the "Decorations Required" tab. The decorations highlighted in red in the table below are ones that require MTX.

It's possible to import a Hideout template that uses MTX without having the necessary MTX decorations. However, doing so will result in a partial import. Only the sections of the hideout that you own will be implemented; the rest will not.

Failed to Import Hideout Error Solution in PoE 2

Failed to Import Hideout Error in path of exile 2

A problem many players face when trying to import a new Hideout to Path of Exile 2 is the game displays an error along the lines of "Failed to Import Hideout template. Warning: 201 invalid doodads found in Hideout template. They will not be imported."

This error can happen when you are trying to import a Hideout meant for Path of Exile 1, not Path of Exile 2.

Currently, both PoE 1 and PoE 2 hideouts are hosted on the same website, which often results in players being confused about a seemingly working hideout not being imported. Since all assets of PoE 1 don't exist in PoE 2, there is no way to import these hideouts in their entirety.

How to Differentiate Between PoE 1 and PoE 2 Hideout Templates

How to Differentiate Between PoE 1 and PoE 2 Hideout Templates

On Hideout Showcase, there are two ways you can easily identify whether a Hideout is for Path of Exile 2 or not.

  1. On the hideout webpage, look to the top right for the entry: Designed for POE2. If it says "No", it means that this template only works for PoE 1. If it says "Yes", it's obviously for PoE 2.
  2. When searching for hideouts on the site, look for the orange (POE2) tag in front of the title name. This is a clear visual indication that this template is for PoE 2.

An easy way to filter out all PoE 1 hideouts is to search using the Path of Exile 2 or PoE 2 tag. To do so, click on Search on the homepage, and in the Tags field, type PoE 2 and hit enter. Now, click on Search, and you should only see Hideouts with that tag.
