Pokemon fans should mark their calendars for February 13, as information about an upcoming animated short is reportedly being unveiled that day. 2024 was relatively light on new Pokemon releases, but 2025 is already looking to make up for that with the launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A on the Nintendo Switch sometime later this year. There are also rumors that another mainline Pokemon game could be coming out in 2025, this one supposedly being either a duo of Let’s Go titles set in the Johto region or a remake of Pokemon Black and White.
Games aren’t the only media that Pokemon is famous for, and plenty of exciting animated projects are also on the way. For example, Aardman Animations, the legendary studio behind Chicken Run and the Wallace & Gromit series, recently announced that it was partnering with Nintendo on a new Pokemon project that will be released in 2027. In the meantime, there will be another special animation for this year’s Pokemon Day event titled Dragonite and the Postman, which is being animated by famed Japanese anime studio CoMix Wave Films.

Pokemon Fan Designs Incredible Headgears
A creative artist puts an interesting twist on some classic Pokemon designs, reimagining the creatures as finely detailed headgear.
Pokemon’s new Dragonite and the Postman animation will be released on YouTube on Pokemon Day 2025, which will take place on February 27. However, according to a translated post from the Pokemon Information Bureau Twitter account, more information about the project will be revealed on February 13. Another Twitter account named CentroLeaks believes that more details about the upcoming Pokemon Day 2025 festivities will also be unveiled at this time, but nothing is known for certain.
New Pokemon Animation Details To Be Revealed on February 13
For those who don’t know, Pokemon Day marks the anniversary of the original Pokemon Red and Green, which were released for the Nintendo Game Boy in Japan on February 27, 1996. Every year on this day, The Pokemon Company releases a special Pokemon Presents livestream filled with new announcements, with last year’s festivities including the official reveal of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. A special Pokemon TCG giveaway has already been leaked for this year’s Pokemon Day, featuring three cards designed by fans and a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet - Prismatic Evolutions holo card.
This year’s Pokemon Day celebration will likely be filled with exciting announcements related to Pokemon Legends: Z-A, Pokemon GO, Pokemon Unite, the Pokemon TCG, and virtually every other piece of official Pokemon media. It will also feature a special Dragonite-centric animated short that fans won’t want to miss, and more information about what else to expect could be coming next week ahead of the big day.
