It's no secret that Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a popular game. Prior to its launch, many Pokemon fans were boarding the hype train as new details about the unique gameplay of Pokemon Legends: Arceus were dropping. At launch, this resulted in record-breaking sales for Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and a popularity that has kept eyes on the game weeks after it was released.
As is the case with the entire Pokemon franchise, fans of Pokemon Legends: Arceus were quick to create tributes and pieces of fan art for the newest game in the beloved franchise. From creating a wooden Poke Ball inspired by the game, to creating an impressive origami of the legendary Pokemon Arceus, fans of the game have been making a variety of interesting and amazing tributes to the latest mainline game in the Pokemon series. Now a fan has created a fascinating and nostalgic piece of art.
Artist Sindorman posted their Pokemon Legends: Arceus tribute on Twitter, which features a render of Jubilife Village as if it had been created for the Game Boy Color. Jubilife Village acts as a hub area for the player in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, being a settlement where they can change clothes, their hairstyle, and gain quests. Set up by the Galactic Expedition Team, Jubilife Village has only been around for two years by the time the game's story takes place, meaning it is vastly different from the Jubilife City seen in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.
Looking at the pixel art of Sindorman the most striking thing is how much detail and effort has been put into the color scheme of Jubilife Village. Redesigning it in a pixel style would have been difficult anyway, but creating such a vibrant and nostalgic rendition was something that Pokemon Legends: Arceus fans quickly took to praising in the comments of the Twitter post. One user stated that the art "did such an amazing job matching the style of the new sprites to the old!" Another fan was quick to spot a hidden spoiler in the piece though, which new players may want to avoid if they care about all the story details.
Considering Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the historic Hisui region, which is an older version of the iconic Sinnoh region from the Gen 4 games, some may believe that the older, nostalgic art style of previous Pokemon games may better fit the ancient setting of Pokemon Legends: Arceus. However, despite the Game Boy Color aesthetic suiting the game, the older console may not have been able to provide players with an open-world experience.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus is available for the Nintendo Switch.
