The PlayStation 5 Pro will launch on November 7 and will cost a staggering $699.99. Rumors have been swirling about a PS5 Pro for years, with many assuming that Sony would look to replicate the success it found last generation with the PS4 Pro.

Reliable insiders have insisted that the PlayStation 5 Pro has been a matter of when, not if, and Sony itself has now confirmed those suspicions. As part of a presentation hosted by PlayStation 5 architect Mark Cerny, all has been revealed about the PS5 Pro.

PS5 DualSense Controller Prices Are Getting More Expensive

Sony quietly increases the price of their PS5 DualSense controllers in various regions, ahead of its technical presentation this week.

Launching November 7 for $699.99, the PS5 Pro is a disc-less console that is close to doubling the power of the PS5. The big selling point of the PS5 Pro is that gamers will no longer have to choose between Fidelity or Performance. The PS5 Pro is capable of running games at 60 frames per second with the high resolution that one expects from a Graphics mode. This is being achieved through the PS5 Pro's upgraded GPU that offers 45% faster rendering for gameplay, advanced ray tracing that is double "and at times" triple the speeds of the current PS5, and AI-driven upscaling through the new PlayStation Spectral Super resolution feature. Pre-orders begin September 26 from PlayStation Direct and select retailers. Players will have the option of buying an Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive, though pricing information for that add-on is unavailable at the time of this writing.

PS5 Pro Price and Release Date

  • PS5 Pro Release Date: November 7
  • PS5 Pro Price: $699.99

The PS5 Pro will not have exclusive games, but it will provide significant boosts to existing titles. Backward compatible PlayStation games will enjoy boosts, while modern games will be getting more specific PS5 Pro enhancements. PlayStation fans can expect all of the big first-party PlayStation games to get PS5 Pro enhancements, with titles like the Demon's Souls remake, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered shown off during the presentation.

List of Games Getting PS5 Pro Enhancements

  • Alan Wake 2
  • Assassin's Creed Shadows
  • Demon's Souls
  • Dragon's Dogma 2
  • Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Hogwarts Legacy
  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Marvel's Spider-Man 2
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • The Crew Motorfest
  • The First Descendant
  • The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered

The big takeaway when it comes to the PS5 Pro is that it will offer significantly more power than the currently-available PS5 consoles, letting gamers get the most out of their games in terms of graphics and performance. However, that comes with a gigantic price tag. $699.99 makes the PS5 Pro the most expensive PlayStation console ever made, and it remains to be seen if consumers are willing to pay so much for a machine that runs all the same games that the base PS5 does, just better.
