Summary
- The Resident Evil Zero remake is reportedly still in production.
- Capcom is rumored to be working on a Code Veronica remake as well.
- Resident Evil 9 is also believed to be in development.
The Resident Evil Zero remake, which has not been officially announced by Capcom at the time of this writing, is said to be "still very much in production." Resident Evil Zero was originally released as a Nintendo GameCube exclusive before its HD remaster saw it released on modern platforms. In many ways a standard old-school Resident Evil survival-horror adventure, RE0 has features that make it one of the more unique entries in the series.
Resident Evil Zero's defining gameplay mechanic is how it lets players swap between the two playable characters at will, whereas previous Resident Evil games restricted players to one character per playthrough. Swapping between Billy Coen and Rebecca Chambers opened the door for unique puzzle opportunities and combat strategies. Resident Evil Zero is also known for ditching item boxes and instead having players place unwanted items directly on the ground.

Leaker Shares Bold Prediction for Resident Evil Zero Remake
A long-time Capcom leaker shares a bold prediction for the Resident Evil Zero remake, which is rumored to have been in the works for a while now.
There are those that love Resident Evil Zero and others that feel like it loses its momentum after the opening train segment, but regardless, it seems fans may be getting a remake of the game at some point down the line. Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem recently took to Resetera to address the Resident Evil Zero remake, saying that the unannounced game is "still very much in production," but that the project "had a big change" in regard to the developers working on it. Of course, fans should still take any claims about the Resident Evil Zero remake with a grain of salt since the project has not been officially announced by Capcom.
Resident Evil Zero Remake is Rumored to Be in Development
Capcom has kept quiet about its plans for future Resident Evil games, but as the survival-horror franchise remains one of the company's top draws, it's only a matter of time before the next entry is announced. If the rumors are to be believed, there are at least three Resident Evil projects on the horizon. Besides the Resident Evil Zero remake, it's believed that Capcom is working on a Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake, and as far as brand-new entries go, Resident Evil 9 is said to be in active development.
It's believed that Resident Evil 9 will be the next RE, with the rumored remakes to follow. Resident Evil 9 rumors and leaks have been coming on a regular basis, but nothing official has been announced by Capcom. It's believed that RE9 will continue the story where Resident Evil Village left off and serve as a closer to the trilogy that started with Resident Evil 7, but that remains to be seen. Resident Evil fans will just have to wait and see if there's truth to any of these rumors.

Be prepared to relive the first nightmare in Resident Evil 0, a remastered version of the popular prequel to the original Resident Evil game. This remastered version takes the fear-inducing atmosphere from the original 2002 release and transforms it with stunning new HD visuals, improved sound, widescreen support and an optional modernized control system and more. It’s the best way to experience the story of what really happened before the iconic mansion incident that was the catalyst for the entire Resident Evil saga.
The story of Resident Evil 0 takes players back to 1998. Reports have been mounting about unusual murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. The city’s Special Forces division, S.T.A.R.S., sends their Bravo Team - including rookie cop member Rebecca Chambers - to investigate. On route, the team’s helicopter suffers engine trouble and is forced to make a crash landing, where they find an overturned prisoner transport vehicle. Splitting up to search the area, Rebecca discovers the Ecliptic Express, a train stopped dead on the tracks. Inside, she meets death row convict and ex-Navy lieutenant Billy Coen. Throughout the game, you will take control of both Rebecca and Billy, at times switching between both characters in order to proceed. Learning the advantages of each character is the key to solving puzzles and surviving the nightmares that lie ahead.
