The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim originally launched on November 11 in 2011, making this year the game's 10th anniversary. Bethesda is celebrating by releasing a Skyrim Anniversary Edition bundle, packed with all of the official Skyrim content released over the past 10 years. But that isn't the only exciting Skyrim-related happening at the moment. On Wednesday, Modiphius launched a crowdfunding effort for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - The Adventure game, a board game that has already smashed its ?100,000 goal.
Skyrim - The Adventure Game is a fantasy action board game for between one and four players, involving many of the elements that players are familiar with from the video game. Players will be able to select and customize their own hero, adventure across Skyrim completing dungeons, defeating monstrous foes, and following an epic quest, all while leveling up and acquiring epic gear. With that said, Modiphius also says that Skyrim - The Adventure Game is endlessly replayable. It isn't intended for just a single playthrough.
Modiphius set a modest goal of ?100,000 for its crowdfunding through GameFound. Unsurprisingly, it destroyed that goal in a short amount of time. A day after the campaign launched, Skyrim - The Adventure Game has climbed above ?550,000 with nearly 3,400 backers in total. The campaign is planned to last another 31 days, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Skyrim - The Adventure Game accrue well over ?1,000,000 by its end.
For those interested in picking up Skyrim - The Adventure Game, Modiphius is offering three different bundles. The 10th Anniversary Base Game Tier is ?68.00 and includes just the base version of Skyrim - The Adventure Game. The Gameplay Tier costs ?140 and includes Skyrim's two gameplay expansions, Dawnguard and From the Ashes. Lastly, there's the Deluxe Tier, which costs ?220 and includes the base game, its expansions, a Miniature Upgrade Set, a bag of gold Septim tokens, and a Skyrim map game mat. Note that prices don't include shipping which will add another ?15-19 when Skyrim - The Adventure Game ships.
Speaking of shipping, Modiphius plans to have the game finished and ready to start shipping by August 2022. That seems like an extremely optimistic schedule for a board game crowdfund, so the game itself must be finished or near completion. That said, worldwide shipping issues are everpresent right now, so don't be surprised if there's a delay.
For those that prefer to play before they purchase, Modiphius has an option available now. A demo version of Skyrim - The Adventure Game is available on Steam for the Tabletop Simulator app. It includes the first chapter of Skyrim - The Adventure Game with a limited amount of content. Still, it's a great way to see if Skyrim - The Adventure Game is the next Elder Scrolls experience players want to dive into.
