Terraria developer Re-Logic has shared a status update for players, talking about its long-awaited major update as well as teasing the introduction of crossplay in the game. Being one of the most popular indie games, Terraria regularly sees strong engagement, with tens of thousands of players logging in every day.
In 2025, Terraria is set to celebrate the 14th anniversary of its initial launch on PC. Throughout these years, the 2D sandbox game has sustained its popularity and also reached new audiences by landing on various different platforms, ranging from consoles to mobile. Although its gameplay offers abundant ways to spend time, certain sections of fans have been eagerly waiting for its first major content drop since the Labor of Love update which came out in 2022. In its first announcement this year, the team behind Terraria has given players insight into its future plans.

The Rarest Items In Terraria
Re-Logic's Terraria contains thousands of items, some of which are extremely difficult to obtain. What the rarest items in the sandbox game?
In its latest post on Terraria's Steam page, Re-Logic shared that things are falling in place for 2025 to be "quite the year" for the pixel art-based game. Devs have been hard at work with building and refining the forthcoming additions set to arrive with Terraria's highly anticipated 1.4.5 update. The indie studio revealed that there's still one "ideation session" remaining before things "lock in" for the forthcoming major update, which is expected to arrive later this year. Moreover, the post contained a couple of GIFs, possibly hinting at a future addition to the game. The first of these GIFs shows the player character capturing an Amethyst Bunny, whereas the second shows them consuming Rock Candy, which is apparently made out of "random critters made of stone and gems."
Terraria Dev Reveals 2025 Plans, with the Arrival of Crossplay Support Likely on the Cards
In addition to the forthcoming 1.4.5 update, Re-Logic talked about the likelihood of crossplay between consoles and mobile platforms being enabled in Terraria in the near future. It announced that its partner, DR Studios, could launch Terarria crossplay support across different systems in 2025, saying that it was "hopeful" but that there are still "no promises." Currently, the highly successful game only offers crossplay between Android and iOS devices.
While the next big update may definitely be what the fans want to see the most, there are other exciting things coming for Terraria players in 2025 as well. One of these things is the previously announced Terraria-Palworld collaboration, which kicked off in December 2024 and is set to unfold throughout the rest of this year, offering players of both games something to look forward to.
