Twitch streamer Kaitlyn Siragusa, more commonly known as Amouranth, was recently banned for reasons unknown. It appears that it was due to something?that happened last week during a gym IRL stream, but exact details have not been confirmed at this time. Speculation suggests that there could have been some accidental slip that violated Twitch's terms of services, as similar incidents have occurred in the past.
Amouranth successfully repealed the ban, regardless, which would have likely been for 3 days. Instead, the popular Twitch streamer was back and able to stream in roughly 27 hours. While the circumstances surrounding the ban are questionable enough, what followed also has many scratching their heads, as Amouranth lost 300,000 followers.
For context, controversy can often be used to boost a Twitch channel, with "manufactured controversy" often being something that should be considered when something strange happens on stream such as a mugging, breaking and entering, or etc. A perfect example is the fact that Amouranth actually became the fastest growing Twitch streamer following a ban that followed an accidental wardrobe mishap. This time around, the results appear to be quite the opposite, with Amouranth blaming the loss of followers on a bug.
Prior to her ban, she had roughly 1.41 million followers, making her the second most popular Twitch streamer behind Imane "Pokimane" Anys. Her count is 1.17 million upon her return, but it appears to just be a glitch within the system, as the numbers are reportedly shooting back up. Amouranth did address this concern in a return stream, stating, "The follower thing is going to be annoying for a little while. Every time you get banned, your follower count is down a lot... It dropped me by like 300,000 followers."
Interestingly enough, this isn't the first time Amouranth has lost this many followers either. The increase from the aforementioned ban was likely due to her name exploding across online forums, yet?some speculate that there was a high number of bots as well. This is because, not too long after the fact, Amouranth also lost 300,000 followers. With the number being so similar, it's possible that it could have been a glitch then as well, but until Twitch officially addresses the claim, there's not much more that can be done about it.
