World Of Warcraft: War Within - 7 Tips For Early Progression
Players can progress quickly through World of Warcraft: War Within by following a few simple tips and strategies.
One smaller, but no less significant element of the new expansion, is new battle pets. Battle pets are small companions that can be used in a Pokemon-inspired battling system, or simply collected and used as a cosmetic accessory. The War Within, as expected, has added several unique and adorable pets for players to collect that are obtained through many different forms of content.
1 Guacamole
Bought From A Reputation Vendor
Combat Abilities:
- Scratch
- Comeback
- Stoneskin
- Flurry
- Poison Fang
- Burrow
Guacamole is a beast-type pet and one of the few mole pets players can obtain in World of Warcraft. He sports a rocky dark exterior with a green underbelly, resembling an avocado, hence the name Guacamole.
Players can obtain Guacamole through renown, requiring level 17 with the Assembly of The Deeps reputation faction. Players can then simply acquire Guacamole through the reputation vendor located in the Ringing Deeps for 6,500 resonance crystals.
2 Blightbud
Obtained From A Treasure
Combat Abilities:
- Lash
- Creeping Fungus
- Stun Seed
- Poison Lash
- Plant
- Entangling Roots
Blightbud is an elemental-type pet. He resembles a mutated mushroom, using spiked claw hands and walking on green earthy tendrils. He is a unique design and likely a variant of the various lashers seen throughout the game, notably in the Dragonflight expansion.
Players can obtain Blightbud through the dislodged blockage treasure. This treasure requires players to complete a pipe puzzle to unlock. When opened, players are guaranteed to receive Blightbud as well as progress toward the treasure's achievement.
3 Rak-Ush Battleshell
Received As A Quest Reward
Combat Abilities:
- Scratch
- Screech
- Swarm
- Crush
- Stoneskin
- Rupture
The Rak-Ush Battleshell is a beast-type pet, sporting the design of the Nerubian Battleshells, large beetle-like creatures utilized by the Nerubians in the Azj-Kahet zone. The pet, however, is far cuter than their large and quite frankly intimidating counterparts.

World of Warcraft Classic: 5 Rarest Battle Pets
Some pets are rarer than others in WoW Classic. Here are some of the rarest ones in the game.
The Rak-Ush Battleshell can be obtained through the completion of the Permanent Hire quest in Azj-Kahet. This is a nine-part quest chain that starts with "Beautification Project" as part of the Rak-Ush storyline. After completion of "Permanent Hire," players are awarded the Rak-Ush Battleshell???.
4 Writhing Transmutagen
Obtained Through A Profession
Combat Abilities:
- Ooze Touch
- Nether Blast
- Flash
- Glop
- Creeping Ooze
- Consume Corpse
The Writhing Transmutagen is a Magic-type pet. It uses a slime-inspired design but is far more grotesque and unique, sporting a fleshy look that makes it one of the more disturbing pets in World of Warcraft.
Players who have Khaz Algar alchemy can use the profession ability thaumaturgy. Upon using thaumaturgy, players have a roughly 0.04% chance of obtaining the Writhing Transmutagen. Due to the fact the pet is obtained from a profession, players can sell and buy it at the auction house, meaning they do not need to be alchemists themselves. The low drop rate may mean that it is more efficient for players to simply buy the pet on the auction house, as it is roughly sitting at around 10 thousand gold. This means it is more time-efficient to simply make the gold and buy the pet.
5 Bouncer
Dropped From A Delve
Combat Abilities:
- Strike
- Sticky Web
- Leech Life
- Feign Death
- Brittle Webbing
- Spiderling Swarm
Bouncer is a beast-type pet, sporting a design inspired by real-world jumping spiders. Despite its place in Azj-Kahet among the far larger and intimidating spider-inspired Nerubians, Bouncer is a cute and friendly alternative. Bouncer might even be cute enough to coax players out of using the arachnophobia mode, at least for a while.
Players have a chance of obtaining Bouncer from any of the Nerubian delves located within Azj-Kahet. Players will roll this chance to obtain him from opening any of the "Nerubian Delve Chests" at the end of these delves. These delves are; Tek-Rethan Abyss, The Underkeep and The Spiral Weave. It is currently unclear whether the odds of obtaining Bouncer change with difficulty, meaning players may be best to tackle tier 1 delves, presuming the odds don't change. This would allow for faster clears.
6 Bop
Dropped From A Dungeon
Combat Abilities:
- Barbed Stinger
- Swarm of Bees
- Swarm
- Confusing Sting
- Great Sting
- Missile
Bop is a flying-type bee pet. He usually sports a cowboy hat, likely meaning he is a reference to the famous and beloved anime, Cowboy Beebop. Bop is one of the newer entries in the recent trend of bee-related pets and mounts within World of Warcraft.

World Of Warcraft: 19 Rarest Obtainable Hunter Pets
Each race in World of Warcraft has a special Hunter pet, but some are incredibly rare and difficult to find.
Players can obtain Bop as a dungeon drop. It is no surprise that the dungeon in question is the Cinderbrew Meadery, given its relation to bees. Players have a 5% chance of obtaining Bop after killing the boss, Goldie Baronbottom.
7 Waxwick
Received From An Achievement
Combat Abilities:
- Magma Wave
- Flame Thrower
- Conflagrate
- Burn
- Immolation
- Fire Shield
Waxwick is an elemental-type pet and possibly one of the more unique designs for a battle pet in recent expansions. As the name suggests, Waxwick is a candle, sporting a melted design and a lit wick on his head, with the glow of the candle making up the interior of his eyes and mouth.
Players can obtain Waxwick through the completion of an achievement. This achievement is entitled Khaz Algar Safari. This achievement is account-wide and requires players to catch every wild battle pet on Khaz Algar, totaling 31 pets. Once players have completed this achievement, they are rewarded with Waxwick.
