Microsoft has teamed up with Warner Bros. to create a Wonka-inspired edible chocolate Xbox controller. Out of the many first and third-party controllers available for Xbox gamers, there’s little question that the standard Xbox Core Wireless Controller is one of the best available. It comes in an array of colors from carbon black to bright white and even camo, and via the Xbox Design Lab, gamers can customize their controller with an array of options for no extra cost. But until now, there has been one type of controller missing that many people probably didn’t even realize they needed.
The story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl has been adapted to cinema a few times and has even made a couple of forays into video games. Warner Bros. is currently in the process of creating a musical simply called Wonka that stars Dune’s Timothée Chalamet. The film will recount the origin story of the mysterious and magical Willy Wonka and is scheduled to release in December 2023.
In anticipation of the upcoming film, Xbox has unveiled a special Xbox Series X that looks like a chocolate bar and comes with a display modeled after Willy Wonka’s store. While the console itself is not edible, one of the controllers it comes with is. Unfortunately, this bundle isn’t one that gamers will be able to purchase in stores; it will be a limited edition prize in a sweepstakes run by Xbox from November 13 to December 14. Along with a working, burgundy-colored controller, the lucky winner will receive a 100% chocolate replica wrapped in gold foil. The prize also comes with five chocolate truffles with unique gaming-themed names like “Achievement Hunting” and “Button Masher.”

- From November 13 to December 14, 2023
Microsoft has released some incredibly eye-catching Xbox Series X consoles since its release in November 2020. While a few of these were one-off prizes, some of the most beautiful and most coveted, like the Halo Infinite-themed Xbox Series X with its stars and gold trim, were available for the public to purchase for a limited time.
There have been some memorable controllers released as well, and the Starfield Xbox controller that launched in June is considered by many to be one of the most striking ever released. And thanks to the Xbox Design Lab, even gamers who don’t take home the Wonka prize can create their own controller themed after the upcoming musical if they want, even if the burgundy color isn’t an available option.
