Xbox Live Gold subscribers are likely to have subscribed in order to play games online, but the service does have another major perk. Every month, Xbox Live Gold subscribers receive two hand-selected free Xbox 360 games and two free Xbox One titles as part of the Games with Gold benefit. This month, the first batch of free Games with Gold titles has been made available a day early.
The new free May 2022 Games with Gold titles consist of one Xbox 360 game and one Xbox One game. Both of these games are currently available from the Microsoft Store, but they can also be accessed in another way. Interested subscribers can simply search manually for the title on their consoles and download them during the appropriate time period for free.
In May 2022, the four Games with Gold titles that gamers can access will be Yoku's Island Express, The Inner World - The Last Wind Monk, Hydro Thunder Hurricane, and Viva Piñata Party Animals. However, subscribers can download Yoku's Island Express and Hydro Thunder Hurricane right now, one day ahead of their planned release dates. The other two titles will be available about halfway through the month.
Yoku's Island Express was scheduled to be available for download from May 1 to May 31, giving fans plenty of time to get ahold of it. However, Hydro Thunder Hurricane will only be available for half that time - May 1 to May 15 - so gamers may wish to prioritize it. In the second half of the month, beginning on May 16, gamers will be able to download Viva Piñata Party Animals and The Inner World - The Last Wind Monk. While the former title will only be available until May 31, the latter will actually be available for download up until June 15. This means gamers will have a little extra time to finish The Inner World - The Last Wind Monk.
In Yoku's Island Express, players will take on the role of Yoku, a tiny dung beetle who's moved to an island for a relaxing job as its postmaster. Unfortunately, the discovery that the island's deity is asleep and its dreams are causing natural disasters puts a dent in his plans. Meanwhile, Hydro Thunder Hurricane allows gamers to race powerboats through a variety of bizarre locations, including the notorious Area 51. It features a number of new events added to the standard racing gameplay of the first game, Hydro Thunder. Both games are likely to appeal to different sections of the Xbox Live subscriber base.
