Microsoft has announced the Xbox Free Games with Gold for February 2020. The free Xbox games for February 2020 consist of two Xbox One titles, one Xbox 360 game, and one original Xbox game. And thanks to the Xbox One backward compatibility program, the Xbox 360 and original Xbox games are playable on current-generation hardware.
Throughout the month of February, Xbox Live Games with Gold subscribers can download?TT: Isle of Man, a motorcycle racing game, for free. The other free Xbox One game in February 2020 is?Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game, a horror game based on the works of HP Lovecraft.?Call of Cthulhu: The Official Video Game will be available to download from February 16 to March 15.
From February 1 to February 15, Xbox 360 players can download?Fable Heroes, a beat 'em up spinoff of Microsoft's?Fable franchise that earned mixed to negative reviews back when it launched in 2012. Then from February 16 to February 29, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can download the original?Star Wars Battlefront, which?will likely be the most popular free game out of the bunch.
So far, fan reception to the free Xbox Games with Gold for February 2020 has been pretty mixed. Most of the games on offer received average to poor reviews, with the exception being the original?Star Wars Battlefront. And while some may be excited to play?Star Wars Battlefront, the game is still 16 years old. At the time of this writing, there is a little over 2,000 likes on the February 2020 Games with Gold reveal trailer, and nearly 1,000 dislikes.
Meanwhile, Xbox Live Gold subscribers still have some time to download the free Games with Gold for January 2020. This includes?St: Shadows of Darkness,?Batman: The Telltale Series, and?LEGO Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy.
It will be interesting to see how the Xbox Live Games with Gold program changes at the end of the year. Microsoft will be releasing its next-generation Xbox Series X console this coming holiday season, and that will presumably bring with it its own free Games with Gold. It's possible the Xbox 360 free Games with Gold will be phased out at that point, though that's just speculation at this time. We'll learn more later this year.
