"Comic Relief" is a story quest in Hello Kitty Island Adventure that requires you to get the three blue Power Crystals in Rainbow Reef. Due to the location of the Power Crystals, it's unlikely you'll be able to start this quest at the beginning of your playthrough. You should build up your friendship levels with the characters around Island Adventure. This will unlock several tools that are pivotal in reaching the blue Power Crystals, which lie in the depths of Rainbow Reef.

Comic Relief Walkthrough

How to Unlock & Complete

Before you dive into the ocean to begin your search, you have some tasks to complete. Hangyodon is the only character that can be found underwater, and he's also the one you need to speak to in order to start "Comic Relief" story quest. Unfortunately, if you don't have the Snorkel or enough Stamina, you won't be able to meet him.

Here's how to unlock "Comic Relief":

  • To get the Snorkel, reach level 6 friendship with Kuromi. Complete the "Deep Diving" story quest to get the crafting plans for the Snorkel. You'll need 2x Ingot, 10x Rubber, and 2x Spark.
  • If you have five stamina apple slices, you can craft a Stamina Apple at any crafting table. Speak to Chococat once you have five stamina apple slices to get the crafting plans for the Stamina Apple. It's recommended you have two Stamina Apples before starting "Comic Relief."

Once you have the Snorkel and enough Stamina, dive into Rainbow Reef from the northern path by Chococat's tent. You'll find the Comedy Club with a nearby fast-travel mailbox. Go inside and speak to Hangyodon.

Now that you've met Hangyodon, you'll need to level 6 friendship with him. Hangyodon likes Aquatic Material (2-heart). You can find its crafting recipe by looting the chest in the water over the Sunken Ship.

Here's how to complete "Comic Relief":

  1. Your first task is to find Hangyodon's luggage, which is behind the Comedy Hall.
  2. Then, you'll need to find all three pieces of the Mermaid outfit. Fortunately, if you track the progress of "Comic Relief," the quest guide will lead you directly to the Mermaid Tiara, Armor, and Tail.
  3. Return to Hangyodon, then meet up with Chocoat at the Mermaidifier on the other side of the Resort Gate (view your map for the location).
  4. You'll need to find the three blue Power Crystals in Rainbow Reef. If you mark the quest, the section with the crystals will be highlighted on your map.
  5. Return all the blue Power Crystals to the Mermaidifier, then go back to the Comedy Hall.

Where to Find All Blue Power Crystals

Blue Power Crystal Locations

As mentioned, the blue Power Crystals are in three different locations in Rainbow Reef. You can refer to the image above for the exact locations of the Power Crystals. You're going to need enough stamina to swim to the bottom of the reef. If you don't have two Stamina Apples, then you can try using Stamina Recharge Potions, which are unlocked when Kuromi is level 8.

Equipping the Mermaid Outfit will slow your dive meter/stamina, which you're going to need when you start looking for the Power Crystals.

Blue Power Crystals are located in the following:

  • Sunken Ship
  • Kelp Maze
  • Near the dock on Gemstone Mountain's shore

Blue Power Crystal #1

The easiest Power Crystal to get is the one underwater by Gemstone Mountain. If you look closely at your map, you can see a dock on the southern shore of Gemstone Mountain. Have your sensor equipped, swim a little southwest of the dock, and dive into the depths. You'll find the Power Crystal resting on some pink sea sponges.

Blue Power Crystal #2

The second Power Crystal is located in the Kelp Maze. There's a fast-travel mailbox in the northern part of Kelp Maze, but if you just want the Power Crystal, then go to the southern half of the maze. If you dive deep enough, you'll find statues pointing to where you need to go. Follow them, and you'll eventually find the Power Crystal.

If you look at the map, the Power Crystal in the Kelp Maze is in the corner of the L-shaped wall.

Blue Power Crystal #3 (Sunken Solutions)

The last Power Crystal is why you need extra Stamina. You've probably noticed the Sunken Ship already, especially if you were getting the Aquatic Material crafting plans. You're going to need to swim all the way to the bottom of the ship. There's an opening that leads to a puzzle room.

Circle around to the ship's back end, and you'll find the Sunken Ship Mailbox.

How to Solve Sunken Solutions

Sunken Solutions is pretty straightforward. You'll notice the Power Crystal at the top of the mast, but you can't reach it unless you use the red blocks.

  1. Climb up the stairs and activate the red block. Use the air current to propel you upwards.
  2. You can try and glide towards the mast with the crystal, or you can glide towards the rock with the second red block.
  3. If you do the latter, activate the block to start up another air current. Then, take this to the mast and grab the Power Crystal.
  4. Don't forget to loot the chest on the bowsprit to get the Classic Pirate Hat.

Best Answers for Hangyodon

Once you place the Power Crystals on the pedestal, you'll need to give the flyer for Hangyodon's show to My Melody. Then, return to Comedy Hall. There are two more things you'll need to do before "Comic Relief" is marked complete.

Hangyodon has stage fright, and he'll ask you to make him a coffee to calm him down. It doesn't matter what coffee you make, so just make one with the most expendable ingredients. Use the coffee machine at the bar in the Comedy Hall. Give this to Hangyodon, and he'll ask you for help with his show.

For this part, you're going to need to respond to Hangyodon's jokes with the correct answer. You're given several choices, but here's what you should pick:

Joke

Punchline

What do you call a fish with no eyes?

Fsh

What did the bottom-feeder say when you wished him happy birthday?

Thanks for the sediment.

Why do sharks swim in salt water?

Because mineral water is too expensive!
