One Piece will hold its first official bodybuilding contest in Japan later this year! The competition is a partnership between the official One Piece Fitness BragMen gym, in Shibuya, and the renowned bodybuilding competition Muscle Gate.
Brag Men is a One Piece-themed gym that opened in Tokyo in 2023 – it is, so far, the only official gym for the franchise. Trainers are dressed as Marines and the gym is named after a book featured in the series.
One Piece 1139: What To Expect From The Chapter?
One Piece 1139 will be an incredible chapter. The One Piece lore thickens.
The contest will be held at the Culttz Kawasaki sports venue on June 1, 2025, and participants will have to dress as Luffy!
Rules of the contest
Contestants will have to wear denim shorts and a straw hat, and perform Luffy's iconic poses plus any pose of their choice:
- Front pose
- Back pose
- Battle stance ("Haaa!" pose)
- Gear Second pose
- Gomu Gomu na Gatling pose
- Any pose of their choice
They will be judged on their creativity in interpreting and dressing as Luffy, their accuracy in mimicking his poses, and also on their body aesthetics (muscles and proportions), confidence (probably their attitude in general), hair, skin and smile – however, people with overly developed muscles may lose points, so the more natural the shape, the better. The top 3 winners will get a framed version of their own Wanted poster.
Those who want to join the competition can apply on the official website until April 30, 23:59 JST – only men aged at least 18 can join it. Anyone who joins the contest will receive free access to the gym until May 31 and their own Wanted poster.
What's Next for One Piece Fans?
While the anime is still on hiatus until April, One Piece fans are getting massive action in the latest chapters of the manga.
Chapter 1138 was one of the best in the last months – and, a week before, Chapter 1137 revealed an important character related to Shanks, proving a theory that had been getting stronger among the fandom (and disproving a few other theories).
While the manga is in its final saga, it seems Oda doesn't intend to end the story so soon. Fans in the US can buy tickets to check One Piece attractions at Universal Studio Hollywood's First Universal Fan Fest Nights.
One Piece latest chapters are available for free on Manga Plus and Shonen Jump services.
