See AllHas a Video Game Character Ever Made You Angry?
Video games have the power to evoke a wide range of emotions in players, although not all of them are positive. Sometimes, a character's words or actions can really get under the skin of players, whether due to their constant interruptions or their spiteful or thoughtless antics. The likes of Preston Garvey and The Riddler can be annoying, but there are one or two video game characters who actually make me a little angry. Dutch and Micah from Red Dead Redemption 2 are two of the first that spring to mind, although learning all about Ted Faro in Horizon Zero Dawn also made me pretty mad.
What’s the Most Frustrating Video Game You’ve Ever Played?
Whether due to poor programming or a lack of skill on the player's part, some games have the potential to be incredibly frustrating. When I was younger, the Ninja Gaiden games on the NES used to drive me crazy, as too did Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts on the SNES. These days, I've gotten pretty good at recognizing the type of games that will annoy me and will generally give them a pretty wide berth. However, I still get suckered in by games like Cuphead every once in a while.
Why Do You Play Video Games?
Video games can be a great way to learn new skills or explore the realms of the impossible. While some players are driven by their desire to be the best at something, others seek an escape from the mundane realities of life. Personally, I'm drawn toward games that make me think and feel, as well as those that can transport me to distant worlds, whether those worlds are fantasy-based or firmly rooted in reality.
What’s a Band or Musician You Discovered Through Gaming?
Around the turn of the century, a lot of video games relied on licensed tracks rather than original soundtracks, which helped to introduce gamers to bands and musicians they hadn't previously heard of. I discovered Bad Religion through Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and Crazy Taxi, and began listening to Cage the Elephant after hearing Ain't No Rest for the Wicked in the first Borderlands game.
Do Trophies and Achievements Get You to Play More?
Trophies and Achievements can serve as powerful incentives for players to explore parts of a game that they might otherwise ignore. There are definitely times when I've sunk a few extra hours into a game in order to get the Platinum Trophy, although there have also been occasions where a few hard-to-unlock Trophies have discouraged me from pursuing others. For example, if a game has a Trophy that's tied to a New Game Plus run, I'll often give up on the Platinum right from the get-go and just focus on completing the main story.
How Often Do You Buy New Video Games?
When I was younger, I used to buy one or two new games a month. These days, though, I usually buy at least one new game a week for work and often pick up older titles in Steam and PlayStation Store sales as well. Sadly, most of these older games end up going straight into my backlog, which seems to be growing at an alarming rate as of late.

PGA Tour 2K25
Having grown up playing EA's PGA Tour games back when they were still called Tiger Woods, I was excited to see how golf games have improved in the decade or so since I last played one, and PGA Tour 2K25 did not disappoint. The visuals are obviously a lot better than anything I remember from back in the day, but pretty much everything else is too, from the highly realistic physics to the plethora of accessibility options that 2K Sport has included.
I'd say that this is the closest experience I've had to real golf in a video game, but that would be doing PGA Tour 2K25 a massive disservice, as I actually find it a lot more enjoyable than the real thing. I've no idea whether it offers a massive improvement over the previous installment, but feel confident in saying that this is the most realistic golfing sim on the market today and a must-play for fans of the sport. Pity about the microtransactions, though.

Sayonara Wild Hearts
I first played Sayonara Wild Hearts a few years back as part of an Apple Arcade free trial and loved every second of my time with the game. The music is fantastic, the storytelling is unique, and, despite its simplicity, the gameplay is thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish. With all that in mind, I was happy to have the opportunity to replay the game recently following its release on the PlayStation 5.
Like a lot of other games that were designed with mobile devices in mind, Sayonara Wild Hearts is best enjoyed in smaller, more bite-sized chunks, so I was curious to see how well the experience would translate to console and longer gameplay sessions. Whether you're playing in short bursts or blasting through all 23 stages in a single sitting, I'm happy to report that Sayonara Wild Hearts is still a lot of fun.

Sid Meier's Civilization VII
Civilization games have a history of being a little slow out of the blocks, but Civ 7 feels particularly sluggish. There’s a distinct lack of polish and a lot of crashes on console at launch, not to mention a bunch of missing features, Civs, and Leaders that really should have been there right from the get-go. My biggest gripe with the game lies elsewhere though.
One of the things that I love most about Civilization games is building an empire that can survive and thrive through the ages. However, being forced to switch Civs at each age transition cheapens that somewhat. It feels like change for the sake of change, and I can’t for the life of me understand why it wasn’t made optional. As things stand, I’d much rather be playing Civ 6, and looking at Steam DB, I’m far from the only one.

Vendetta Forever
I can't usually play VR games for more than an hour or so at a time, but my first session with Vendetta Forever ended up lasting two or three. The game consists of around 60 satisfying stages, most of which are less than a minute in length. As a result, you quickly find yourself stuck in a perpetual cycle of "just one more"s and "I can do better"s, making it incredibly difficult to tear yourself away.
The game's unique traversal mechanics encourage and reward fast-paced gameplay and make it so that players don't have to duck and weave to avoid bullets and projectiles as they do in similar titles. This bodes well for those of us who lack the space to play VR games standing up, although there were still one or two moments when my lack of mobility held me back a little. That's on me, though, not the game.

Assetto Corsa EVO
Assetto Corsa EVO will probably be one of the best racing sims ever when Version 1.0 is released. Sadly, it couldn't be much further away at the time of writing. Paying for early access feels more like pre-ordering a game with no fixed release date and getting to play a demo that barely functions while you wait.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is by far the best Musou game on the market when it comes to single-player gameplay. Its hack-and-slash combat is both satisfying and intuitive, with each of the ten weapon types providing a huge amount of variety. Battles can sometimes be a little repetitive, but not nearly enough to detract from the sense of excitement one gets from tearing through an entire army of soldiers or besting an enemy officer in a duel.
Unfortunately, however, the developers' attempts to freshen up the story ended up falling a little flat, and the way that side content is integrated is pretty clunky, to say the least (especially when it comes to raising one's bond with other officers). I also found the lack of local co-op to be incredibly disappointing, as my partner and I still play DW8 together from time to time and had been hoping that we'd finally be able to upgrade to a current-gen installment.

Every Dragon Ball Series, Ranked by Animation Quality
Each to their own. The first three Super movies were pretty great and the animation in Super itself definitely got a lot better over time. I just felt that what we saw in GT was much more in line with Z, which, at the time when I first watched it, was my baseline for what a Dragon Ball anime series should look like.
Every Dragon Ball Series, Ranked by Animation Quality
Battle of Gods, Resurrection F, and Broly were all pretty dope (especially the latter), but I wasn’t a huge fan of Super Hero. For me, Fusion Reborn is probably the most well-animated of the Dragon Ball movies, but I wouldn’t rank Z any higher on that basis.
