Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles have been out for nearly a year at this point, but getting either of them is still a struggle for many consumers. Walmart has regularly added new stock of PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles throughout the year on its online store, and while the supply sells out almost immediately, it has been one of the main ways that fans have been able to get their hands on a next-gen console.
Walmart restocked its PS5 consoles on November 1, though issues with the website made it difficult for many to actually buy a console. Now Walmart is hosting another restock, which will include the Xbox Series X and both versions of the PlayStation 5. The November 2 Walmart next-gen console restock will happen at 4PM ET, and anyone interested will want to prepare by making sure their account is logged in and ready to go ahead of time.
Now, it's entirely possible that Walmart will run into similar issues that it did with the November 1 restock, and so fans should keep that in mind. It's also possible that Walmart will have multiple phases of stock available, so fans should be mindful of that as well. Scalpers and bots will still make it tricky for interested consumers to get a console for themselves, but it certainly doesn't hurt to try.
Walmart PS5, Xbox Series X Restock Times
- PS5 Disc Edition Console ($499) - 4pm ET
- PS5 Digital Edition Console ($399) - 4pm ET
- Xbox Series X ($499) - 4pm ET
For those wondering about the differences between the PS5 consoles, the PlayStation 5 Disc Edition and Digital Edition are effectively the same in terms of power. However, the PS5 Disc Edition has a disc drive whereas the PS5 Digital Edition does not. This likely won't be an issue for those who only play games digitally, but those who prefer physical media or have a large library of PS4 discs they want to use will want to spring for the more expensive version.
Out of the next-gen consoles, it will likely be easiest to purchase an Xbox Series X over the PS5 systems. That's because the Xbox Series X supply is expected to be a bit better this holiday season than it has been in recent months, and demand seems to be higher for the PS5 in general. However, it will still be extremely difficult, and so shoppers should keep their expectations in check.
